On Friday and Saturday night there was a spotlight in the skies waving from side to side. On Friday it looked like it was more over St. Aidans/Stockton Road way, and last night it seemed closer to my area (Grange Road). Anyone know what it's all about? Is Batman a Poolie?

Cheeky get :P

Can't have been a police helicopter, was out every time I was and going in the same place, from side to side. It must be some beam if it's from Greatham... Couldn't see the beam itself though, just the light. Could only see it if clouds were there to reflect it too.

Hmmmmmm confised

I saw it as well on Friday night. It looked like it was from Seaton.

There's a pattern developing here..... the 'light' was spotted by people who were coming out of pubs...I rest my case.

It definitely wasn't a police chopper, unless it was in the air in pretty much the same place all of Saturday/Sunday looking for their suspect in the clouds. Was there a carnival or some shite on?

For it to be a police copter it would have had to be flying upside down

I may have an explanation. On Friday night, just before 11, I was driving along the A66, having just picked up 2 of my lads from Cineworld in the Boro'. Just to the left of the elevated section I was on, there was a strong beam of light shining up into the night sky, coming from what I think is a night club somewhere behind the Hill Street Centre. It may just have been a coincidence, could this have been your mystery Spotlight?

If it was a strong beam, it could well have been - it was moving from side to side, but that's MEGA impressive if it was that powerful.
