Big night tonight, they're doing Salsa. Actually they'll probably do some ballroom steps influenced by salsa, I've yet to see a routine of real salsa moves on any series.

Nope, me neither unless you count Dirty Dancing 2 (Havana Nights) as a series.

(Cue Mr I explaining ruefully that the salsa dancers in that film were complete pants).

Not in DD2 they weren't that was proper salsa. A shite film but the dance sequences were proper. On the Dirty Dancing theme, Mr Swazi is actually a very good clasically trained dancer.

Can't comment on the viennese waltz, I know nothing about it. The salsa routines however....

Penny: wooden, poor technique, she looked like a member of a hen party in a salsa club. Mind you with that music, which was far far to fast they had little chance. The professional should have stepped in and put in a protest about the speed of beat.

Kate Garraway and twat: Fecking awful.

There were four salsa moves in there and none of them were any good: entufla double, a very basic move was cocked up, a beginners class level cucaracha was badly executed, the 'professional' leads adios was even wrong and as for the tierre las havana at the end - I despair.

they should get four zeros for than debacle.

Give me a week intensive training like they've had, with any woman with two legs and I'll beat that by some distance.

Letitia Dean:

Impressed! Clearly not a natural but they did actually dance a salsa routine and for someone who has been doing it for a week I though she was very good. As for the routine; I thought it was a shame they chose to do LA style cross body lead but using cuban moves sctatchinghead stpid.

The fact that she can't move her hips properly is a question of foot placement which the professional should have dealt with.

I actually thought her biggest problem was her partner who didn't have a clue.

John Barnes;

Excellent for a weeks training. I know people with a couple of years experience who are not as good. He held it together well if a little laboured in places. She was obviously leading and it was obviously a set routine which goes against the whole ethos. Nevertheless, the best by a long long way.

Alysha.

Excellent as always, this dance really suited the girl. I thought Barnes did well but she was better. The only criticism I have is the routin; it was a disco routine with some (very advanced) salsa moves. Her partner is clearly an experienced latin dancer which helped her enormously.
