I defy you with the Jam, the cure, the smiths, the pogues and probably lots more that I cant think of off the top of my head.
Though in actual fact that was better than I thought it would be as I didnt give Japan a chance in the eighties.

edit: err I 've just realised the title (ie - best new romantic)
Well I couldnt do new romantic at the time, not at all...but I reckon thats one-nil to Katcha

No chance, not even close. Steve Strange, apart from a welsh smackhead poof, didn't even sing on those records. The best they ever did was 'mind of a toy' vocals by Midge Ure. Listen and tell me i'm wrong.

the thing about fade to grey is that the tune itself set a benchmark for other electro groups to try and match - the breaks in the synth, the drum beats are all the basis for most dance music early 90s and still now you can hear it ( well i can - maybe it was the acid)
