Would it be a good idea to make a long banner saying "Michael Maidens 1987-2007" to hold up during minutes applause on saturday?
Vote.

It's a no-brainer really.

I read a good idea for a tribute on Rivals as well, they suggested following QPRs example and have all of the Pools players to have 'Maidens and the number 25' on the back of their shirts next weekend

I'm not entirely sure about the minute's applause in these circumstances. I'm not sure that you can 'celebrate' a life being cut so short, and so quickly. I think a minutes silence is the correct way to go, as whatever way you look at it this is an absolute tragedy. I fully support any decision that's made but there is something that I'm not entirely comfortable with about applause when a talented 20 year old lad has lost his life in such a way.

The banner is a smashing idea though, I don't think anyone would object to that.

I tend to agree, I've always found that minutes applause a bit uncomfortable. A minutes silence when observed perfectly is far more poignant in my opinion.

Just to make sure no-one would be against this.
Not because of the lad maybe for other reason.

I agree with both previous posts, a minute silence would be much more appropriate in the circumstances.

Minutes silence would be better tribute.
Minutes applause seems to be the way these days but I agree with above posts.
Whatever happens we will have a banner out.

I can see merits it both options. Surely the best thing to do is whatever the family feel is the most appropriate.

You're right of course. They are the most important people in all of this. I' d respect either decision 100%. It's not our decision to make, I feel a bit bad about posting that now.

Don't feel bad about it PJ, you didn't do anything wrong. Just said what you felt was right.

Cheers, but what you said is spot on. We shouldn't really be speculating are trying to decide what the right thing to do is, it's not really our decision. We should go along with what is decided and pay our respects.
