itwasn't considered that much of a giant-killing at the time, as we were 4th division (obviously) and they were 3rd division. However they did get promoted that year, Arthur Cox was their boss I think.
Revenge for the 6-1 gubbing they gave us in the League Cup over two legs that season.
LOADS of crowd trouble that day.

aye, after they postponed the original second leg by a week, 'cos they were trying to buy time to get some of their unfit players available by the time we played it. Cheats back then they were as well!!!

Would that of been the time when they had that humongous forward Lee Morris playing for them, he scored regularly against us

Dixon's grandmother passed away on the morning of the game & he dedicated the goal to her.

I think he might have scored twice that game, some monstoropus centre forward did. Was this the game where the draw had already been made for the 2nd round of the league cup and the winners were to play spurs away.I think we were 2-0 down at one point but came back to win 3-2. Think we had some loaneee from Billingham Synthonia playing, he had a nightmare first half and was subbed at half time by Sir Cyril!
Great evening.

Mind we then went down to tottenham and were stuffed 5-0!

wow that derby game takes me back. I'd had a bad experience with a dodgy paella and had to leave in a big big hurry at half time when we were down 1 0 ,there were no proper toilets anywhere in the ground, and as I ran home I passed a stream of newcastle/boro and derby fans beating the shit out of each other.if I wasn't in such dire need I would have turned tail and ran the other way but I had to get through.when I got through and got home we had won 2 1.!!
