Great finish like. But the Russians are shite they don't look a threat at all even if they aren't playing on proper grass.

Cue 2-1 defeat

can't say I'm surprised by it, just listening to the radio commentary at work the faint hearted prima donnas obviously can't handle playing in a place like that - which is surprising given the inspirational tough-talking manager (did anyone spot the sarcasm there)?

I'd rather have Paul Robinson off Neighbours in nets rolfl He's (the shite goaly one) about two clem overweight and crap.

What are goons like David Platt on by the way he claimed (at 2-1)that we had done and I quote "extraordinarily well" was I watching the same second half, we deserved to lose.

Platt has proved that he knows nothing about football, but like other 'pundits' such as ian Wright they always seem to get employment despite being incompetent

This is only my opinion, but watching those can't be arsed, overpaid cardboard cut-outs, I can see the game we love imploding in 10 years time.... .

I find it very hard to have any feelings for any of these players as they are now totally detached from the fans they could once relate to, they come over as decadent overpaid playboys.....

It's fuucking pathatic.......

We need a strong manager who will put England first and not give into people like Fergie etc. I don't care if the clubs pay the players, the players values etc are increased when they are a success in internationals so the clubs should take the rough with the smooth.

The players need to put the country first too. People like Jamie Carragher, Paul Scholes and Alan Shearer are a disgrace. As is David Bentley Too many ego's, too many complete tossers playing for our country, too many fans have no national pride.

What a fuucking load of Shite.......

Incidentally, given that the usual excuse is that he is being restricted by being in the same midfield as Frank Lampard (and, by inference, not good enough to adapt) what exactly are people going to come up with next to excuse anonymous performances before they have to admit that Steven "Stevie G" Gerrard might actually be a teeny bit shite?

Gerrard was woeful today, gave the ball away far too cheaply by continuously playing stupid long balls. He looked lost.

Also, Joe Cole is totally ineffective as a left-winger.

Ah the nighty Joe Cole...stands on the wing looking mean and moody, does a couple of jinking runs then loses the ball and ends up on his arse. The studio pundits have a collective orgasm and I sit wondering what they can see that I can't... ? sctatchinghead

It's about time these failures were dropped from the England team. No more Robinson, A. Cole, Ferdinand, Terry, Gerrard, J. Cole, Lampard, Rooney, Owen, etc. They have failed time and time again, give someone else a chance for fs, they couldn't do any worse. In fact, I reckon a League One select could have gotten a draw in Russia.

I've with you on that one Mr gadgie, I've said before, pick the team from the Championship downwards and watch them set the world on fire. If you watch the Under 21's who haven't had their trotters in the trough yet they play with an application, pride and passion that puts the first team to shame.

Out of the current squad I would only keep the following, everyone else has had their chance and blown it, imo.

Carson
Richards
Lescott
Shorey
Barry
Bentley
Ashley Young

and anyone who disagrees with that assertion should remember the last Euro Championships - the winners were a team (in every sense of the word), of so-called journeymen(sic). What have the multi-millionaire precious England players ever achieved at international level? More to the point, what will they EVER achieve?
If England's team was picked exclusively of Championship/L1/L2 players I reckon a lot of people disaffected with England (such as myself) would actually want to watch them again.

As an afterthought, it strikes me that a lot of football fans in England don't like the national team because it would mean putting aside their hatred of a particular player for a day, and nobody likes doing that really. If the team was full of players you:
a) didn't hate
b) are ambivalent towards at best
c) don't really know much about them
then you are more likely to actively support them in matches such as yesterday.
Plus they will try so much harder to prove the arseholes of Fleet Street wrong (do they still print papers in Fleet Street)? sctatchinghead

I know for a fact most Mancs and Scousers (of all four teams) hate/do not like England for the reason that at least one of their "enemies" plays for England.

despite thinking that our glorious national team didn't actually play that badly, i'm not too upset that they lost, cos :

a) i got 21/10 on russia at home stpid !!! after they passed us off the park at wembley !!!

b) it'll mean the end of the gutless mclaren, lauded as a tactical genius at the boro for slinging 5 strikers on when they're losing in europe banghead. forced into getting lucky by picking gareth barry after persisting with gerrard and lampard banghead banghead (the former, by the way who has been fookin sheee-ite in the last two games)

fook the lot of them refred

Spot on.

I was at the England v Macedonia game at Old Trafford (yes the one that's probably in the long run fooked it up for us  ) and a lot of the 'fans' who watch England are fans of the Premiershit. You had a pocket of scousers near us slagging off Lampard, then you had cockneys and scousers slagging off the Man United players. Even at the end when Gary Neville walked around the ground to clap (he was the only one mind) the people who had paid 50 snots to watch the trash they served up all he got back was; "fuck off Neville you prick" from the scousers rolfl

What got me is those people had paid for a ticket to support England yet couldn't put club rivalry aside for the day. This was probably down to them being imbeciles, but still the atmosphere was still shyte as a result. The loudest cheer of the day was when McClaren finally subbed Downing

Then you have fans of proper footy, like us, that just hate them all

Exactly. He has neither the left foot to go down the outside or the pace to cut inside. His contribution is usually getting tackled by the first man he approaches or beating one, then thinking he's invincible, only to be robbed by the 2nd or third man. I'd much rather give Ashley Young a chance on that left hand side.

Lescott seemed off the pace last night as well, playing out of position I know but he still seemed very nervous. I thought Sol Campbell was our best defender, hardly put a foot wrong.

Honestly, I really don't care.

I am just so unimpressed by these primadonnas and that complete arse of a manager I can't put it into words. This I believe is the start of a real sea change in this country. The spotlight is more concentrated because of the rugby team's success. The two are a complete mirror image:

Football team: lots of natural ability but no bottle. Unwilling or unable to give everything.
Rugby team: Mostly average players (on world level) but willing to literally sweat blood before giving an inch.

Well they've certainly shed blood and it would be amazing if they didn't sweat, but *literally* sweat blood is perhaps going a bit far
