Went to see the Anton Corbijn film Control yesterday - based upon the Deborah Curtis book 'Touching from a distance' about the life and subsequent death of her husband Ian Curtis. It was by far the most powerful and emotive film I've ever seen. Whether this is because I’ve always liked Joy Division or it is an exceptional film is difficult for me to judge, however our Maureen also found it touching and emotional and until she saw the film, was never that in to Joy Division. Sam Riley who plays Ian Curtis is spot on in his mannerisms and the actions when playing live are uncanny. The music comes over more powerful than ever before and I found it spine tingling. The late Tony Wilson and Deborah Curtis were both very involved in the making of the film. I fully recommend it to anyone who has any interest in music, the human condition and relationships.

I've read the book 3 times! Very little reference to any drug culture in the book - but quite touching with respect to prescribed medicine for Ian's epilepsy. I'm sure you will love the film.
