they just cannot get there head around this but live by statistics for less than 200 years. They cannotthink in millions of years and its like us moaning about how difficult it was getting the car out of the garage when doing a road trip to china and back. For all those dinosaus and the rest of the animals who have become extinct the world ended for them whats so special about the human race. eventually the world will end but more than likely from overpopulation and the inability to feed people.

I remember in the early 70s that the sea disappeared for a while. It was a major event back then with loads of media & t.v crews around sea front at Seaton. I cannot remember why the sea went away leaving just beach? Over to you Snowy your the sea expert... clappp

Very low tides occur occasionally revealing the prehistoric forest near Newburn Bridge and always attracted the ‘meeeja’ when it happened…people tended to be a bit underwhelmed at the site of numerous black stumps in the sand….some o& the daft sods must have been expecting the Black Forest.
Incidentally I found out some old posters for boats to Europe from West Hartlepool in 1912…
You could go to Hamburg every Tuesday and Friday and to St Petersburg every ten days….now you can’t even get a direct bus to Newcastle.

Yes I think it's called progress and don't think about the train it's a nightmare with all the women shoppers on it.

The wife was on about the trains yesterday….which let’s be honest have never improved since 1988 when I used to use it to get to Gateshead for courses….. one of my sons travelled to Newcastle daily and my youngest daughter also travelled daily to Sunderland and always the same old two carriages despite those obvious times when even Ward Jackson’s statue had eyes to see there’d be times more capacity and frequency like in other parts of the country…..and like you say, at Xmas time it’s a very unfunny sick joke.

Is it only me who remembers a really dark day in or around 1966/67? Seem to remember, as a 4/5 year old, it was a winter morning and the sky went absolutely black, parents taking kids out of school thinking it was the end of the world, rain pouring down etc. etc.

Sneaking a transistor radio into school on the Monday after an FA Cup Saturday, if we'd managed a win, to listen to the draw on Monday lunchtime.

Yes…I was in my classroom at Tech in Lauder street, the class room is still there as part of the Town Hall and from the third floor the view over the Headland was like the sea boiling and an eerie green light in the clouds and the rain was monsoon plus… got the bus home for dinner and Oxford Road was like Venice as the water overwhelmed the drains…yet an hour later it was just a bad dream.
Glad you reminded me of that. clappp

even more when the bloody useless things blow over in the wind with their contents strewn all over the streets. begs the question of what we get for our council tax when there seems an add on to what we pay that encourage fly tipping.

Not so long ago parking was free at Seaton, then the Akers Belchers lot brought in Summer parking charges to use the money for improvements on the roads in Seaton.
Well so much for that bollocks.
Then they made it all years round charges ….and at present for a limited period they’re allowing free parking for the weekends till Xmas.
There’s business’s down there struggling since Covid and the astronomical price rises we all face….so it’s a bit rich seeing most car parking empty over the winter months during weekdays so I doubt their charges will be worth the while but it will put people off… they really haven’t got a clue.
I know Councils have problems too, so might I suggest a review of all the irrelevant posts that they do so love to nurture.

With fly tipping.. Has anybody who has done this in the town been prosecuted and how many, I know down near Greyfields alot gets dumped down there.. And the irony is there is ridiculous signs saying you could be fined 50000 pounds. What a joke. Crush the vehicles they use.. That will sicking them. What's the point of giving them fines that they won't pay.

Will never forget the sight of him queuing at the turnstiles in a green trouser suit with handbag and heals at St James Park, Exeter, when we won and sneaked in the play offs on the final day.

Think that was the year we lost at Cheltenham on Spot kicks.
I lived in London at the time and got clattered on the train back to Paddington with a bunch of Poolie Exiles and a few Plymouth fans, who had just won the league and we're toasting our victory over their local rivals

I suspect the loss of his mother affected him badly and was probably trying to recreate her with his outfits as it only happened after she passed on…the wife knew him through work and would bump into him in Morrison’s and get his woes, bless him.
