Here we go again toys thrown outa the pram

Our U17s manager is bringing in four or five from outside the area to protect the other Hartlepool side..

Rather than listening to others and having a pop on here, get together and talk face to face with the people in charge at the club, as has been requested several times and at least then you'll know where everyone stands, and that no-one gives a shiney shite for anything other than giving the quality kids your club undoubtly has, a chance to stay in the game rather than hitting the drink, drugs and whatever else goes on...

I thought the two parties HAD agreed to get together. That dosent include me.

I, of course, am just an interested observer.

Hardly see any toys being thrown about. But its important is it not, to make this work for everyone, not just one side?

Which by the way, I agree in principle, is a very good idea........thats maybe being badly progressed at present?

100% Dibs and that's why we "all" need to get together and re-assure "anyone" with any doubts, and for me that includes concerned parents, there are bound to be a few teething problems but if we can get arses on seats, and discuss like grown men (which to my knowledge hasn't been organised) then the kids will benefit, its not about me, you or anyone else, its whats best for the youngns that counts...

you didnt answer ALL of the questions though.

Youve still passed, but you would have got an A if you had completed the paper.

And there was quite a few marks available for the question about out of towners.

Throston Hotspur sure they were an under 18 or 21 team who've been together ages and decided to try the Sunday mornings. How well they do will depend on how they cope against the older/harder opponents trying to bully them.

They will do well I reckon, a fair few of their players already played Sunday morning footy.

Us? We are just gonna do our own thing and not worry about anyone else!

As I mentioned earlier the second division next year will be very strong. Your going to get less cloggers than ever before, and more football played.

Years ago you had to kick your way out of that division, we didn't last year and I don't think anyone will this year either.

Fixtures are now up on the website for those that don't know, for august at least.

Good luck to everyone involved this season, let's hope theres no more drop outs.

Playing in peterlee y'day there pitch fees n league fees combined totalled £300, how do we get charged £500 and them £300.

Redic

First season for a while im not associated with a club, the past few years at the Pearl Bar have taken it out of me, gunna give it a rest for a while like then get back into it, only on the pitch like. Think my time on the sidelines is over!

It can take it out of you constantly texting people and organising this and that, going to meetings, sorting fines, getting lazy gets out of bed, washing kits etc.

I've decided to call it a day after this year from both playing and being involved, I've been playing sunday league since I was 17 and just fancy doing a few things different with my weekends after this year, especially with having 3 littleuns at home and a soon to be wife it does put a strain on being out all day sunday, though im sure if we got promoted I might change my mind for a chance at a crack at the premier.

Looking forward to this year though, still really enjoy it, got a great set up with this time and a good bunch so I still get a buzz from doing it all.

which team is yours Yubep?

My lad is playing div 1 again this year. I might get to stand on the sidelines and taunt you.

Well he is when he is home from Uni.

We are div 1 so you may yes. We are the central, formally rafa club.

Played our lovely free flowing 3-4-3 again yesterday, hammered a team in peterlee 5-0, couldn't live with us, didn't know who to mark or anything in there 1990's 4-4-2.

Do people really still play that?

I am afraid they do.

Sadly, even my younguns team did last wednesday night in a 2 all draw against Willington Under 18's.

Of course they have a coach, from Pools, who believes its the way to go, and expects two banks of four, and wants them to play the long diagonal ball out to the wide players all game.

Most of the lads just ignore him, and play more sensibly.

Thank god.

He doesnt even notice they are ignoring him.

4 3 3 on wednesday coming at the central pitch though.

Playing 4-4-2 is like buying a new phone and getting a nokia 3310, or still using your house phone, or using dial up internet to go online.

It's just shite. It's too rigid.

It's like cross ins instead of cut backs, do people actually still cross a ball in when its 2014?

the really annoying thing is:

we dont even have a left back, so they have basically told one of the subs, who would run under a train if asked, to play left back. He was chuffed to bits to be in the team.

This of course now means one of the better players gets left out to suit the rigid formation.

Its sad really.

4 4 2 is the formation I associate with teams scared of the opposition so sit really deep with two banks of four, and just pressing the ball, hoping for a loose ball to launch up front to relieve the pressure.

Of course the ball would just keep coming back as we dont have a 6'3" striker whose main attribute is to head the ball on.

Its fucking awful to play, and awful to watch.

Like I said though, they have good players who ignore the coach and do whats right at the time on the pitch.

There are still coaches, coaching at reasonable levels that swear by 4 4 2.

You couldnt make it up, but its true.

But of course they never learn, and never will.

Only in England.

We've played 4-4-2 in 4 of our friendlies and scored 23 goals so it's certainly workable. Played 4-5-1 for 30 mins yesterday as well and scored 3 goals. It's Sunday footy and isn't meant to be too complicated!

True but if you have good players they want the ball and play it on the floor.

4 4 2 is the simplest formation and is also the most rigid.

And is the hardest to change if not going well.

And suggests you have two full bacjs that you coulsnt play anywhere else.

Like someone else said.....no one wants to play there.

3 at the back is great if you've got two athletes on either wing tracking back. 3 up front is great if your two wide strikers mark the full backs and the middle man plays with his back to goal. 3 in the middle is great if you have 2 fast full backs in a back 4 and a middle 3 who don't get forward. Anyway the best team in the town on a Sunday, Throston Wanderers, play 4-4-2!

Check

and the middle man plays with his back to goal.

Check

Mmmmmmm cant manage this one. But still ten out of 11 aint bad

and a middle 3 who don't get forward.

Dont agree with this. You need one of he three to get forward. Especially if the middle one upfront reads the game well and can bring this one into the game.....Oooooo thats another check.

Anyway the best team in the town on a Sunday, Throston Wanderers, play 4-4-2!

Mmmmmmm. Is that really a recommendation for that system though? I watched tons of football last season and the best football I saw was university football, and never saw one team play 4 4 2.

I trust this clears this up?

4-4-2 just doesn't work for us 3quid, I think you should always pick the formation that suits the players rather than the other way round, and if that works for your team then that's brill, you cant argue with goals n victories so it doesn't matter what you play as long as you win which you guys are doing.

We done 4-3-3 last year as we had 3 solid centre mids and 1 class striker with a few decent winger/strikers, so we played to that.

This year we seem to be have more defenders and some solid cbs, so we're playing 3 of them and giving our full backs more freedom to push on a bit, it might work, it might not, I like trying though.

Of course you should.

But it is remarkable how many managers have their cast in stone formation and fit players into it.

Thats what this coach at Greatham did last week.

Wanted to play 4 4 1 1, but despite not having a left back, or even a left footed defender, still went with it.

And in doing so left one of his best midfielders on the bench, as three into two doesnt go

If you have two good full backs, and two wide players, then 4 4 2 is OK.

But its still a losers formation.....in that its not designed to out play the opposition.

Any decent team would just sit 3 in midfield and run the 4 4 2 ragged.

Nah that was Throston Hotspur mate who have just joined our division not Throston Wanderers! Still a decent result like. We drew 3-3 with Old Boys a fortnight ago and have them first game on Sunday.

just noticed the fixtures by the way.

Only 11 teams in each league?

What the fuck is that all about. Its like kids footy.

Why didnt they just have two leagues with 17 and 16 teams, like proper football.

Teams are dropping out left right n centre, lost about 10 in a year, im sure the £500 pitch fees and massive fines for absolutely anything have nowt to do with it.

Thats understandable, but all the more reason to make the leagues bigger in terms of numbers.

What if 2 teams drop out of any division? You end up with a league of 9 teams, and a decently mild winter and the league finishes in January.

Hardly a league at all is it?

Dibble, iv asked a few times but you never answer. What formation/starting line up would you use if you were Cooper?

The league need to start giving more back to teams, even if it is doing something little as a few match balls each for each team. I just don't understand the logic of having that much sat in the bank when it's completely unnecessary.
