Well you see it's like this - we all allegedly support a football team called Pools which brings us together more often than we might do if things were left to chance.
It was totally cool on Saturday knowing that during my stay in England I could travel to some obscure town in the home counties and find people I knew at the drop of a hat. And I was able to identify about ten people I know thanks to the bunker, apart from seeing one MAD face I've been talking to for years on the net without ever meeting.

The background will be transparent therefore I need to save the image as the most appropriate type. Obviously jpeg and bitmap is out. I know gif supports transparency. thoughts?

Do it professionally using alpha layers and CMYK color components. The printers will (or ought to if they are any good) appreciate that.
PSD format is your boy!

Rather than using vector images for resizing (which is the ideal answer in many applications but not this one I feel), you can just churn out different size images by resizing in photoshop.

If you don't have photoshop I may be able to help you (shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!).

Cheers. Dont worry, I will ensure it is done professionally and take my time, the usual escape goat things are rushed tbh.

Im getting conflicting advice here tho re the image type.

On one hand im getting told to do it as a vector (which i can do in paint shop pro and save as a .eps file) while you are telling me to do psd format! (which I can also do in paint shop pro)

Which should I do??

The photoshop alpha layers don't work in paint shop pro.

Every time I get stuff printed the printers ask me for CMYK and twist their noses up a bit at the other file formats, which were never intended for printing but for display on a computer screen.

Ok, thanks for that. I will dig out my photoshop software and use that. How do I enable CMYK in it or is this default behaviour. Paint Shop Pro allows me to save a file as a psd file. Would this be no good? Its just that im so familiar with PSP

Image --> Mode --> CMYK Colour

I would always go with Photoshop over Paint Shop Pro to be honest.

Ah yes, but one must always guard against the assumption that other supporters' view of reality coincides with one's own
Particularly if one sits in the Millhouse.
