On a serious note I fail to see how a bear spaffing into a foxs mouth is less offensive than a woman showing off her chebs. *

*couldnt give a shit to be honest like.

What do you make of yesterdays news that Camra are trying to get brewers to advertise beer to attract women to drink it.

Now forgive me if this sounds at all sexist............but..............why the hell should they?

Women make up half of the potential real ale market, yet nothing like half of them partake. Therefore it makes sense to market to them in order to get them to at least try it.

It's a bit like Tesco branching out into India and China etc, just more market share to capture.

I don't think the CAMRA strategy is sexism in reverse, just appealing to a different 'market segment'. A bit like how moisturisers and so on have been marketed heavily to men in the last few years.

[quote="TheGingerPoolieI'm not sure why you think that I think it's okay. I paralleled a racist and a sexist comment. Sexism has been taken in jest for years - don't know if it's just me - but as much as I don't subscribe to either discipline as a form of humour, there's many more things I'd prioritise in terms of discrimination if the thing that spurs a conversation relating to sexism is a pair of tits on a message board about football with 99% male involvement.

I know what kind of bloke grave is from his posts - it's not that hard to read into people's mindsets - and I certainly know that he isn't doing it as an act of sexist behaviour. I've seen much worse in terms of avatar on here - a man in a corset sticking his cock in a Range Rover's exhaust pipe for example. There's even a smiley of someone getting sucked off. What's the point in complaining though?

You only have to look at Katcha's alleged postings to know that you should be judging him and not the environment for such a problem. I don't know enough about them to make a judgement, so I won't.

And I'll turn down the books, thanks. I did Women in History as a second year module at Uni and I'm fully aware of the struggle they've gone through, and the fact that they're still unequal. I could go into plenty of arguments on how feminism is overboard, how women in sports generally have an easier time of it due to physical differences and so on, but I won't. Women and men ARE different. Black women and white women, or black men and white men aren't (unless you're on about the amount of bones in their feet). Sexism and racism are incomparable in terms of magnitude and impact, especially in today's modern Western society.

quote]
But as I keep saying, the point I was first making was much simpler than any of this...of course there are more urgent to things to address, but you don't think before you say anything, 'are there more important things I could be saying.?' I meant I was uncomfortable with the avatar and Grave and other people took that on board...same as I would have done if the situation were reversed. I don't know why you think there's no point in 'complaining', Mr GP.

I agree with you that much pc is overboard, as I've already said

Sorry GP, but that is just soooooo stereotypical of the recently graduated. "I studied summet for one part of one year, so I'm an expert, like"

I did women every year at Uni, but it was more of an extra curriculor activity :sweeeet:

PS. No complaints, they all think I'm an expert  :sweeeet:

Yeah, I think about all the little girls and women teachers who were shot dead recently in Afghanistan, because their male relatives think females shouldn't be educated.......but perhaps that's too pc. It is on a continuum, tho, with much other apparently innocuous stuff, and where do you draw the line?

Kinhell. I tend to draw the line where any form of discrimination becomes serious.

Tits in an animated picture are not. For fook's sake. I stated before that it's the Western World that I'm referring to, given that the argument is taking place within it and we're judging it on our morals. Tits do not infringe human rights like Afghani hardcore Islamic moralism. Don't start being a twat by comparing chalk and cheese.

And MadJohn, as much as your point is fair enough, it was more in response to the bollocks "I have plenty of books you can borrow".

mmm.

In some respects I agree with the matter re avatars being under 18 compatible so to speak, but believe that on a board were the majority of users are clearly over the age of this then fades into insignificance.

Also if one believes that it is plausible that there by some form of "grown up" content on a board - be it photographs or words - then why open up such a site in the presence of minors? I wouldn't open up http://www.stilemedia.com in front of the kids for example.

There are more offensive images seen on this board other than some bird with her tits openly displayed - such as large photos of shite etc.

As for complaints re using anglo saxon - we all use it and if anyone says they dont swear then I just can't believe it.

Grabec - I never even knew nor care that you are female and my postings indicate the general disappointment in the overall attitude in this day and age to political correctness. It's blown far too far to the power of ten out of proportion and bores me terrificly - just like this thread has. My posts intend no offence to anyone but at the same time if they do offend then I don't give a flying fook for I have little of a conscience but then to contra this i'm a very considerate caring person.

I accept most of the shite posted on here by others and take it just as that - shite. My posts don't reflect me as I'm sure a lot of others postings don't reflect their posters- as I was recently advised - this ain't real life.

Again, I wasn't talking about pc....only got waylaid onto the topic in response to some of the above posts.

Several people, including GP himself have mentioned being put off by some comments or avatars on here. Why should people not be able to say when they're 'put off'? It's not as tho Grave didn't have a choice about whether to respond or not. I agree with katcha that pc is terminally boring, but so is non-pc when it's employed just for its own sake and has no intrinsic humour or merit.......just the same 'joke' being told over and over again.

There is no such thing as PC where I live. Everyone just says exactly what they think and it's dealt with on a personal level. No commission for equality of any description. Being the sole 'whitey' for many and many a mile, I get stared at, kids prod me to see if I'm real, girls giggle, and it's only our rass that gets the huff. She says they stare as if I'm a monkey in a zoo. I think it's funny. It is when they walk into traffic signs or fall off the kerb anyway.

My opinion is that having all these drum banging bodies just makes the whole thing worse and it's become risible. If the women at Wimbledon want the same money as the blokes, let them play the blokes. Venus Williams is much more of a man than Tim Henman ever was.
