he would be one of the last people you would want your young pros around.

at no point on this thread have i said that wilson should have signed him, in fact ive said that wilson has earned the right to sign whoever he wants and as fans of the football club we should judge the striker he has signed once we have seen him play and not before.

talbot, it has to be said, wouldnt know a decent footballer if he saw one in his living room through binoculars.

Why wouldnt I know a decent footballer, Tommy Miller, Robbie Mac, Paul Dalton, Paul Baker, Humpty, Jack Ross, Don Hutchinson, Joe Allon, James Brown etc etc

Just because I wont worship at the alter of chip and and Boyd, eh?, oh yes I forgot you d' man, arent you chip, you knock about with the players and the WAGS and play a bit of Sundday League, so that puts me in my place, doesnt it!

I cannot recall rumors, and thats all they may be, of GW being pissed up round the town, or getting chased naked across a field by an a birds very angry boyfriend

Neither Watson or Boyd were model pros.

Why risk upsetting our dressing room by taking a chance on Boyd? Our team is about spirit and togetherness, Boyd would not help matters on that front. He obviously has problems and Wilson will know all about them before making his decision. We have enough strikers and id be gutted to see him bring Boyd in.

Yeah he has brilliant ability and vision but his 2 downfalls-attitude and lack of pace will always stop him reaching the top.

face it talbot he could score 50 goals this season and you would still think he was shiit.

and you are entitled to your opinion.

he was the most consistent goalscorer in pools recent history, and as mad john has stated several times, even if you take out his 29 goal season he still has the best goals per game ratio of any pools player in the last 30 years.

he also scored from 25 yards out against west ham tonight, but hey, he is fat lazy and past it and will do nothing this season.

anyhow i aint got 10 grand but a pint says he scores 15 goals this season ?

I never said he was shite, Chip, I just think it would be a bad move to bring him back, and I also think GW did it at a higher level

However I'll bet you a pint he doesnt get more then 12 league goals, hows that for a bet!

If Danny Wilson had the chance to sign Boydy on a free (and I don't know that he did) then he fooked up!. Boydy for now't is a fantastic signing for any club outside the premiership and a few within.

Adam Boyd is the most skillful player to ever play for Hartlepool United.

Was just about to say...

"He played just over 60 mins.

20 - GOAL. Orient reply with a stunning goal of their own to equalise, as Boyd sends a 25-yard dipping volley over the head of Green. Leyton Orient 1 West Ham United 1. "

aye but its hard to accept, personally I cant believe he would rather sign for Orient than come back home.

And despite how good those players you mention are (and they are fantastic), Adam Boyd would have taken us to a different level. Who needs duffy?

I'll sing my heart out for him when he visits the Vic. A legend.

go for it, the mans a legend in my eyes, and quite frankly should be to everyone. We got a huge transfer fee for him and I would treat him the same way I would if Tommy Miller came back. That hatrick against sheff wed was unbelieveable.

If you choose to shun him thats your look out, but we've missed a trick in not resigning him.

Why does everybody seem to be assuming that he didn't come here because Wilson didn't want him?

Do any of you know for a cast iron fact that Boyd or his agent didn't tell Pools that he had no intention of coming back here therefore making this argument completely irrelevant?

Sigh. AB scores a 30 yarder and suddenly we've made a giant mistake. Talk about anecdotal evidence.

How many 30 yard stunners did Boydy score for Pools?
Nelson has scored two 30 yard stunners for Pools. Does that make him a better striker than Boydy?
Jermaine Easter scored six goals in a pre-season match for Pools. Is he a better striker than Boydy who has only got one this pre-season?

The only hard evidence anyone can produce that Pools have made a mistake won't be available until the end of the season. If Pools don't make the play-offs or better due to a lack of goals and Boyd and his Orient striking partner outscore our front two, then maybe it was wrong not to get him, assuming it was ever possible to get him in the first place.

Can we just qualify this 'for nothing'.
If Boyd had two years of his contract left at Luton at £3K a week,
then as someone said yesterday Luton may have had to pay up his
contract, as he didn't ask for a transfer. I make that £300K.

So this free transfer might be a bit of a red herring
Luton may well have decided to cut there losses and let Boyd go to
Orient 'on a free', if Orient coughed up say £150K to Boyd.

This also ties in with alleged fee of £150k, which was what he was
supposed to be available for,

Pure speculation, but I can't believe Luton are in a positon to write
£500k off AND pay £300k to Boyd.

If Pools had of signed Boyd most of the same people who are saying that it is a master stroke not to of signed him would be saying how well Danny Wilson had done to get him back at a knock down price.

Can you explain how those two views are incompatible? If Wilson had signed him it would have been because he fitted into his image of the team and I would have been happy with that and the alleged bargain.
But he doesn't fit into that image so it's a moot question. Wilson has plans that don't involve Boyd and I believe him to have better footballing judgement than you.

I would hope he had, he's the one in charge - but using your argument Danny Wilson will never make a bad signing or miss out on a good player. You can back a manager and still question their decisions you know.....

So he's not: fat, hungover, crocked, lazy, useless.

He looked his old self on that clip so I expect him to be one of the leading scorers this season and I'm off to revise my promotion predictions.

Yes I know you can. I never said he was infallible. I never said I wouldn't have signed Boyd either (if ever we could).
But Wilson hasn't and he's the guy who's made a success of managing Pools so far. *shrug*
If a lousy manager had failed to sign him that would have been different.

Based on 5 seconds of video. I'd always thought you less impulsive than that Mr I.

It was a gorgeous goal though. clappp
Every bit as good as Eifions's second for Wrexham against Liverpool in fact.

It wasn't based just on that Mr Head, Boydy looked just as hungry as he did during his 29 goal season, the skill is without question with him its always been about attitude. He looks to have got that back and if so then Orient have just guarenteed themselves 20+ goals this season.

Maybe it was not playing football that got him hungry.
I've no doubt the four key people in this argument are Neale Cooper, Mike Newell, Martin Ling, and Danny Wilson.
One definitely got him hungry and brought the best out of him. One might do so this season. One failed completely. And one didn't try, therefore we'll never know.

But as long as Pools have a good season what the hell.

Typical Poolies eh?? All moaning about what might happen before it either has or hasn't.

I'll tell you when you would have moaned. If we'd signed Adam Boyd and he did fcuk all, and Ian Moore was at Carlisle scoring for fun.

Now if you want to go with conjecture, chew that up and spit the fcuker out.

He's not here, he's not coming, get used to it.
