SP more or less covers everything, Rent £400 a month, it was £300 but moved to a bigger and better bamboo hut, no Council Tax, Electricity £45/50 a month depending what season, hot or hotter one, water is free as it’s well water although we buy water for consumption. Gas bottle for cooking lasts 3 months, £50, we do a lot of home cooking.I very rarely go out, we have a couple of holidays a year, Vietnam in a weeks time which mostly comes out of my savings.
As far as a PP and Savings are concerned I will keep that to myself, the HMRC are taking nearly 30% of my PP due to the tax threshold being frozen.

Why are you paying 30% tax on your PP Jamie, when the basic rate for tax is 20%? I would check that with HMRC in case it's incorrect.

20% tax on my PP amounts to 30% of the annual amount, not 30% tax.

Mind blowing, is it 20% or is it 30%? Am I being thick but how can 20% amount to 30% of anything - is it the Thai exchange rate or summat?

I pay 20% tax on my PP which over the years has now reduced my monthly payments by 30% retroactively from the original monthly payment. Each year the amount paid diminishes due to my tax code being lowered because my SP has increased and the threshold staying the same.
