Have ya ever put the effort in to travel away and the game gets pulled 2 hours before kick off.

Only happened to me once.
Peterborough in 1990 which resulted in a mass brawl cowboy fight in a city centre pub.

Anyone else go to that non game?

Yeah, I was at that Peterborough non game, a bit of a mental afternoon lol

Same problem at Mansfield years ago. Got to the town ordered the drinks and the barmaid smiled and said I bet your gutted are you. Gutted I said why ? she laughed and said do you not know the game was called off a hour ago. banghead

Me and my bro were on our way to Barrow about 5 years ago- think it was season before COVID shutdown

I'd driven up from Ketrin and picked him up in Leeds. We'd booked an apartment on the main drag, in Barrow to stay over after the game. Got to Kirby Stephen and heard on the radio that the game had been called off. Think it was 1 of a handful of games that had fallen that day

Pulled over went to the newsagents- got a paper and scanned all the games in the North West.
It basically boiled down to Blackpool or Blackburn.

So we opted to go to Blackpool v Walsall in League 1. I remember it was a few weeks after Jimmy Armfield had died, as a statue of him outside Bloomfield Road had been adorned with a multitude of tributes and scarves of different clubs, including a Pools one (which wasn't mine)!

Oyston was still in charge and a lot of the Blackpool fans were boycotting games after he'd basically pocketed the premier league cash and the club was in freefall.

The game ended 2-2 with a late Walsall equaliser.

We then drove up to Barrow and had a night out.
The accomodation was really good though Barrow is like the land time forgot - felt like we turned up in the 70's - really grim. The night life or should that be wildlife was memorable, though not in a good way. And to think people slag our town off! refred

We had an away match at Swansea pulled an hour before kick off due to torrential rain.
Same happened to Exeter at Feethams once.
Once had one called off less than an hour before kick off at Lincoln as there was a patch of grass about a foot off the pitch that was frozen. The actual pitch was fine and both teams trained on it!

Also got a bit mental in 91 3rd last game of Promotion season. When their lot thought the Poolies would back down to Pool balls n cues.
Anutha mass brawl lol.

Went about 5/6 times between 85 n 2000 the 4 3 win and always trouble.

Must be something wrong with them. :angry-tappingfoot:

I like Barrow…especially over to Walney Island way…been going over regularly for years but a couple of times a year now..was at Roa Island in July which is one weird little place…on the entrance to Barrow shipyard…oddly enough during the election.

We look very shaky in defence, Tamworth putting good balls into the box. Mancini looking good but not many of the others are. Need Manni D, Charman and Featherstone on second half

Got to say I'm not impressed by the commentary. They spend too much time waffling and laughing at their own jokes instead of following the play. Sticks out like a sore thumb when you can put the words to the action.

All shite and the Tamworth players took the piss out of us after they scored each one of theirs--the worst part is those running the club obviously dont care

Why is it no matter how bad the striker,if he's been at pools then he will score against us!. I know we made a load of changes but that's still poor against a crap side.

Whole body language was awful --especially for the pens---one team wanted to win get through, other team really didnt care one way or the other.

We were looking better than we have in ages until Mancini ran out of steam and Lennie replaced him with a 17 year old debutant with ten minutes to go. The penalties were utter "couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo" shite and we were, at the end of the day, a fucking embarrassing. Tamworth FC FFS.

Putting Charman out wide when Mancini and Dodds were combining so well was the worst part of it--incompetent management--wasn't even as though he was trying to save Mancini legs at that point.

Doing fuck all in the league and out at the first stage of every cup we entered----absolute fucking magic everyone !

Spot on. What the heck was that all about? The worst of it from my point of view though is how badly managed Pools were with a 1-0 home lead and ten minutes to go. it's like we wanted to go out. (I think Lennie perhaps wanted to go out...).

Agreed, what was the thinking? It was inept at best. All he had to do was see it out by feeding Mancini in that pocket on the right, maybe bring on Mani for Madine but to change it to bring Charman on to bulldoze into players was not the calmness needed. Also why bring on the youngster at a moment when we needed to be calm and see the game out? It said to me that the management and coaching staff got it absolutely wrong.

But will they come out and say we got it wrong or just say its one of those things that happens?

I'm lost to see how Lennie can continue making decisions for this club, remember he was responsible for mr hoofball coming in. I don't know where we go from here!!!

Clearly Mr Burns settled for a one goal win when he subbed the best attacker, Mancini, for a 17 yo kid. A big mistake imho!
Pools should not settle for a single goal OR learn how to see out a 1-0 win if repeats of tonight's failure are to be eliminated. Fortunately not many were present to witness the disappointment.

Mancini was comfortably Pools best player but he'd run himself out by the end. I'd have subbed him 10 minutes earlier than he was - but not with a 17-year-old debutant!

That was disrespectful to Tamworth and they got a new lease of life when it had looked like game over.

Thought Smith had a good game - in normal time. For me he's a better option than Young, but no doubt Brad will be back on Saturday.

Over the last few seasons how many times have Pools lost to a part time team, some of those Tamworth players would be turning up for work this morning to put a shift in where as the Pools players will be having a day off.

There are rumours that Southend have seen this and are planning bids for both Denis Behan and Tim Sperrevik before our game on Saturday.

Got to say I'm not impressed by the commentary. They spend too much time waffling and laughing at their own jokes instead of following the play. Sticks out like a sore thumb when you can put the words to the action.

Mr Boring Barron makes me fall asleep. Listening to him is like eating dry wheatabix in the desert.

I enjoy listening to Barron...I thinks he's a class Commentator....so there.

Well your easily pleased afterall you are a Labour supporter.

The only thing worse than a tory voter is a working class tory voter.

No, far worse issues than that. For example lefty posers who try to enforce their views on others and get all upset when others dont agree. They then claim the moral high ground and suggest those who oppose them are morally inferior if not down right wicked. Yeah, nasty, intolerant barstewards who ironically love to preach tolerance.
