How do you define megabucks?

How do you define megabucks….? Do you mix or associate with the plebs, of which I am one, who is fully conversant with the meaning and context of the word.

We know Raj already knocked back hundreds of thousands for a club in millions of pounds worth of debt. I’d say that’s megabucks.

I call that debt.

Do you,…… very good, now tell me more.
How much was the figure in question and why did it get knocked back?..and who is your accomplice/associate….re; use of the word ‘we’.

Yep, that's an eye watering price for a non-league club. That's the worry, the likelihood is that nobody would pay that much over the odds so if Raj won't modify his expectations, there is only one way out for him and it's not a very happy one for us.

We, as in anyone in the fan base who listened to that guy from the trust on the radio and read what one of the consortium said on Facebook. One trust statement said £600k had been deposited with solicitors.
Why it got knocked back - who knows - but you said a decent offer for a NL team wouldn’t be megabucks but I’d describe £600k plus exactly that for a club with massive debt.
It’s why I simply asked what you’d describe as megabucks. If you don’t think that kind of amount is a lot then absolutely fair enough.

I think you are getting a tad mixed up here, Mikey. The money set aside was proof of funds available to run the club and not as a payment to buy it. Raj said that he didn't want any money up front for the club but wanted a structured agreement. This statement hasn't been refuted by anyone, including the Trust. So the asking price for the club has never been revealed by anyone which is why nobody knows what it was then or is now. Unless you can show adequate proof that it is £600k or any other figure for that matter. As far as has been revealed the club is for sale and that sale notice does not contain an asking price. If it did the information would be in the public domain.
It is in a state of conditional and negotiable, with hard evidence that proapective buyers have the wherewithall to finance the club going forward. As far as I'm aware that is all we know.

I think you’re right about the proof of funds part Derwent but it was stated by the chap on Facebook and on the radio that a substantial six figure sum was offered, with further payments staggered as with Sage. The implication was very much an offer of multiple £100ks.
My only point was to pick up on the statement that megabuck offers aren’t made for NL clubs. It’s a matter of opinion of what constitutes megabucks (hence my straightforward question) but from what has been said, what I consider a generous offer was made for a NL club.
And of course, Raj doesn’t have to accept anything, so we are where we are (up the proverbial creek millions of pounds in debt!)
Anyway, I’m sure this has bored the good people of this forum senseless!

A club millions in debt that can list goal posts and bibs and stuff as assets. A juicey morsel indeed.

The point that you agree which I made is the only point I was challenging. What is megabucks or a fair price for a club like ours is a matter of opinion and I have no problem with you and others voicing an opinion on that. Not interested really, but where figures are bandied about etc, I prefer as much accuracy as we can muster. That's all.

It's on the back burner now for me.
But I still demand promotion this season because I'm a rite ambitious selfish bastad.

I don't think so. Personally If I was interested in taking over the club, as a Poolie, and as desperate as you to see the back of Raj, I would make him an offer of such generosity in order to get him to sell. I would publish that I was going to do so and present the offer to him in writing, whilst putting the offer in the public domain.
Before I would carry that scenario out my personal wealth would be in the hundreds of millions, so before anybody gets excited that it is an imminent probability, it is not.
I would offer to clear off the club's debt to him in full and give him a million as a thankyou for taking us over when no one else was willing.

That in my opinion is a fair offer.

Some would say the offer was stupid and I was stupid but my reaction to such criticism would be. I am a Poolie, my family are Poolies and as such are prepared to get the club into such hands and the price I am paying reflects that.

If my offer was turned down then Que Sera, Sera.

Taking into account inflation you must be worth a pretty penny.

If true, the 600k would be a deposit, because running a club ain’t a way to make money at our level.
Why Raj is there I have no idea, but as long as the bills get paid I can wait for developments.

I see Rob Law tweeting about it now. Doubt he’d mention a rumour if it’s just that.

unless you get one person who is actually minted and is prepared to just sign cheques and stay in the background i have never liked the idea of single person ownership. you are controlled by the whims of that person unlike a group where you have a better chance of good decisions being made.
