Back in 1991 a pal of mine ran a company that post Hilsborough report put CCTV into football stadiums. As it was Torquay v Pools first game of the season we made a Friday to Sunday weekend of it. We called into the ground to see the stadium manager on the Friday and after a discussion on the works without telling him we were Pools fans talked about the upcoming game. He then said ‘we will be visiting that shithole on a cold Tuesday night probably ‘ now the town isn’t perfect and he is entitled to his opinion but it was only as a big contract was at stake tongues were bitten. I’ve had probably misplaced dislike of them ever since. Lost 3-1 as well.
