We are talking about the Staincliffe, it was never chocka W.E.or otherwise in my days when I lived there.
But you don’t live there any more and obviously been nowhere near the place since the Zeppelin raids.
Longscar when it was converted to Coasters, initially chocka but eventually closed, they tried various themes but couldn’t survive on W.E. and summer trade only.
The Staincliffe is an old building which would have meant spending hundreds of thousands of pounds to bring up to a modern day standards hotel, en suite bedrooms etc.

Do you actually read replies, digest the information and respond, or have you your viewpoint and and stick with it regardless of the evidence.

My viewpoint is based on my local knowledge, you ever lived in Seaton Snowy, in winter it was deserted with the wid howling of the North Sea blowing sand all over. What evidence is there to suggest the Staincliffe would be a viable business proposition Snowy. I’ve round the corner from the Staincliffe for years. I repeat if it was such a viable proposition why wasn’t it snapped up by a national chain instead of a local builder who saw there was a quick buck to be made.

Similar the Grand Hotel, lay empty for a while before some one locally bought it.

King John, Witherspoons initially then the trade fell off so they sold it to a local company who have now put it up for sale and that’s a town centre pub.

For some reason Hartlepool can’t attract National chain hotel companies apart from the Old West Quay and the Travel Lodge.

There is a lack of quality hotels in Hartlepool, I can’t understand why, my family were coming to Hartlepool but they struggled to find a decent place as both ones on the Marina were fully booked.

The last paragraph says it all…you contradict yourself…..the Old West Quay has been extended three times to meet demand and the Travel Lodge fares well ….Doh…work it out.
Meanwhile regarding Seaton….it confirms you don’t read people’s replies.
Despite others pointing out that Seaton is thriving, like Monty Pythons Black knight you deny reality.
I’m down there twice a day with my dogs, have been for years and have family down there so don’t lecture me on Seaton….you’re out of touch, must be that Far east sunshine making you soft….your description of Seaton as being like Ice Station Zebra confirms that. Oh dear.

problem with seaton is how many just drive down there for a stroll about or take dogs for walks but spend zero on their visits. must admit i,m one of those now who used to go into one of the chippy,s and play prize bingo before it was shut down to make way for more slots.

I know people might think I am a cheapskate, but if I could get a couple of drinks for around a fiver, instead of a tenner, at the end of a stroll along Seaton front I would be a regular visitor. I think I will give Mr Martin a ring and tip him off about the potential of The Staincliffe.

I stayed in the Travel Lodge, was ok very basic no cooked breakfast, yes the Old West Quay has extended to cater for an increase in demand meaning there is a shortage of quality hotel accommodation in Hartlepool.

To bring the Staincliffe up to modern day standards to match the Old West Quay would mean taking it back to the ‘bare brick, it would cost hundreds of thousands and potential buyers will have done a business plan and decided it wasn’t viable. The new owner would never had any intention of spending money on it, he seen a niche in the market for apartments.

Seaton is like Ground Zero in the Winter months Snowy, desolate on week days, you might get few if the weather is decent at the week end though for their Fish and Chips, certainly not ice cream weather.

Seaton is busy in the Winter months, this point has been made several times and backed up……as you won’t be here in the winter months, how would you know?

for its size seaton is as busy in winter at weekends and mid week as some of those places that pride themselves as a big tourist spot. anyone who has ever done an away day mid week in february in blackpool will tell you the same. on my own in a cafe and later on my own on the beach with the dogs.

Seaton probably heard you were coming and left town.

Thanks for the compliment……must have caught it off my two hairy faced tooth and claw cuties.
Bless ‘em.
Mind, you have some stamina,
