Like Mr I said…it’s all about the debt.

Doesn’t matter how much you make, if the outgoings exceed the incomings the result is misery.

The cup runs were the season before last and the money paid off some of the debt.
We were in league 2 last season so wouldn't get a parachute payment W would we sctatchinghead .

Surely the para payment would arrive this season

Was it last season. I wasn't sure when I posted it, I suppose the years of dross have merged into one horrible memory. So normal league prize money last year and halfa million parachute money this year - half as much next year.

There's been some good excuses for our freefall by certain fans.
The
We got promoted to late in the year due to Covid Lockdown taking the season on slightly longer will take some beating.

There's no doubt the late play off final and therefore the shorter close season impacted our ability to hold on to the likes of Oates, who was offered a deal with Mansfield in div 2 when we couldn't guarantee league 2 football and therefore compete with their wages. It also would have meant we were behind the rest in terms of bringing new players in, how could we expect to compete with other clubs until we knew which league we'd be in - "we'll give you x if we're in division 2, or y if we're in NL" versus established division 2 teams?
Excuse, don't know about that but it must have had an impact.

Looking at the submitted account suggests £800k in the bank

£800k paid to Raj

A payment to sage

So did we hit a profit that season for £1.6 million+

If we're so in the shite, how did this come about?

Add in Hartley, Young, Curle and Wests ongoing salary payments or pay off payments that will be a big chunk out of the profits

think challinor more or less said the same at the time. even having two lists of players either nat.league or div.2 would not have helped as we,d have been at the back of the queue for both. know we would not have gone up but it gives another case for two teams promoted and stopping the lengthly play off procedure. however i think oates would have left anyway if that had happened but would have saved us the comedy interlude of fondop.

Play-offs are here to stay in every division because they are guaranteed money spinners and popular with fans - the only gripes come from supporters whose teams would have gone up automatically under the old system. The NL needs 2 automatically promoted PLUS a third promotion based on play-offs.

The season we got promoted we were unable to compete early in the close season due to not knowing which league we'd be in. That was outwith our control and surely nobody blames Raj for that?
The following transfer windows were a joke due to not appointing managers quickly enough and poor managerial and recruitment appointees. Raj has put his hands up and said he made huge mistakes, was given bad advice, and panicked in the case of Lee.
But seriously does anyone think that managers, recruitment people, and players are blameless?
Hartley brought in a boatload, none of whom have managed to nail down a regular starting spot with us or any other league club as far as I know.
Curle brought in the likes of Theo Robinson and Leon Clarke ffs!
Not excuses, reasons why we are where we are.

Does he need to name Sporting Directors, Heads of Recruitment, Managers etc
You're right he got it right when he appointed DC who most of us had never heard of, never managed at a higher level than NL, sacked by Fylde.
Long term he's probably got a good one in Askey, but time will tell.

Lee Rust who must be picking up a decent salary, Grahame Lee said ‘He should not be near a football club. That’s what my opinion is,” Lee said of Rust’

He probably couldn't remember the names, Lee was some bloke in Ferryhill service station, Hartley was a bloke sat next to him on the M42 traffic jam, Lawrence was some guy in one of his care homes bbolt
