We can blame lack of money all we like, but there's no excusing what we have looking like a Sunday league team.
I for one can't understand some of the recent team selections, Hendry and Grey in midfield, Crawford as holding midfielder for example. Why do t we play our best players in their best positions? Why do we always have to play out from the keeper, yesterday they left 2 back against our 2vforwards yet we tried to play out everytine when the long ball might have worked.
Our 11 should have been capable of beating that lot yesterday but it turned out they were unlucky not to get 5![/quot

The manager has certainly lost his halo their is no doubting as the greatest thing since slice bread and some of the things are baffling dont think anyone could argue, either umerah doesnt want to play for askey or pools in general god knows, shadow of a player. Ferguson as centre back was crazy, dolan not playing, while the rubbish in midfield is, baffling, but no matter what askey does and he can do better, but he has been given an impossible job after the injuries, the chairman is hanging him out to dry, like he has done with every other manager. Even challinor the best thing that happened to pools in years, he managed to royally mess up, whether challinor was playing us or not.
[/quo

Why would the chairman want to hang his managers out to dry, what does that achieve. It doesn't make sense to give Askey a three year contract and then hang him out to dry and keep starting all over again, except of course in your mind.
Raj gave Challinor a three year contract as well so he has put his faith in two managers by giving them decent contracts. One walked out for a better deal and the other is struggling. What would you suggest he could have done or, in the case of Askey, still do. Askey has a budget that he obviously hasn't fully spent because he keeps saying he can still bring players in. We don't know what the budget is so can't judge it. Although you and the doomers ridicule our budget because it suits your purpose, without a single scrap of tangible evidence to back your fanatical speculation.
Would you put the club up for sale at the behest of the fans and then overspend on the budget just to appease them. Clubs are lining up at the moment to go bust but we aren't one of them .......yet. However if you and your Raj haters get your way and force the man out, we could join the list. Is that what you want, cos that's what you'll get.

Great post, Mr Derwent.

A single scrap of evidence? Look at the pitiful squad, crikey if that aint evidence then what is, or the fact we continually cant replace injured players of reasonable standard. Raj is making another manager look a right mug. Wake up and smell the coffee

The answer is RAJ why not tell the truth to all of us offers have come in that you have rejected . You have not backed the manager with enough funds yet he will pay the price if this shambles continues. You should be ashamed of your track record and treatment of the staff you employ. The only chairman to take two clubs out of the league.

Are you in the habit of opening your finances up to the world?
Use of the term ‘ You should be ashamed of your track record and treatment of the staff you employ’ is based on what evidence, any employee confided in you?
Well?

Let’s get some reality we all know that Raj cannot/will not release the purse strings to pay the transfer fees or wages for the standard of players we wish for so we just have to live with it until somebody buys him out. Trouble is we were spoilt by IOR and like other clubs when the sugar daddy packs in we know what happens. As for being the only owner to take two clubs down well there are others whose clubs have gone out of existence i.e Rushden and look at the state of Southend and Scunthorpe. As for selling the managers down the line I’m sure they all know the score before they take the job and let’s be honest there is always a line of them wanting the job.

Seaman started the season brilliantly, he was absolutely outstanding in the RB role against Gateshead who's winger never got past him or got a decent cross in at all. Now he looks as if he's never played football in his life .
We were creating chances for fun, now we create virtually nothing, Fergy was right up there for assists now his crossing is dire, Finney is just out of his depth and doesn't even put the effort in, Josh doesn't look the same player as last season. As far as I'm aware the team is picked, tactics dictated, and coaching is down to JA and his staff or is Raj doing it all? Good players turning into poor ones is not down to Raj.
Yes we look as if we need reinforcements, but we don't know if lack of them is JAs decision or any financial constraint.
Not Raj's biggest fan by any stretch, but the display yesterday was down to the players and manager not the chairman.

Crikey, you'd think it was the first time in Pools' history that the team has lost confidence and gone into its shell after a string of poor results. Far better Hartlepool sides than this one have done it.

I see the Sing Worshippers are very quiet this morning unless they all having a lie in.

Noticed that former manager who was made out ti be shite a few weeks ago has got Stockport flying up the table.

Who said he was shite, comments were made about his liaison with Charlton, not about his ability as a manager.
As scfc1973 said about Challinor’s poor start to the season, he was massing about with the formation and finally put round pegs in round holes, result, success.

Nobody said DC was shite, Snowy. It is just another figment of the doomers imagination. I notice the doomers are out in force after a defeat. They actually revel in seeing Pools get beat. I can't comment on yesterday's performance as I didn't see it. Listening to the commentary it sounded dire and listening to the manager we still can't handle the set pieces at either end of the pitch. JA also says they are on overload defensively in training and people are given man marking jobs but not doing them. That of course is Raj's fault and nothing to do with the manager's ability to get his points across or the player's inability to grasp the points he is making. JA has never seen it before he says. Well he's seen it enough since he came here but doesn't seem to be able to cope with it.
JA wants more bodies in who will listen to him and do as they are told.
Why aren't the ones he has already brought in not doing as they are told??? Like Snowy's headline in this thread.....something is not right
If the only answer is to throw money at it, then we are going nowhere because the owner wants the club to be self financing and the fans want him out. Not the ideal formula is it. Will Raj sell? Are there willing buyers? Will Raj give JA more financial support? Will JA get the right players? Will those players gel and play the Askey way? ETC ETC ETC.
Lots of ponderables folks.

I don’t think people revel in Pools defeats, but there’s definitely a lot to unpack at the moment after a start to the season that everybody enjoyed, to a car crash collapse.

I don’t think JA escapes criticism. When we got promoted, we lost quite a few of our good players, we also failed to secure Armstrong. We replaced them with the likes of Olomola and the youngster from Stoke. DC was making average players look very good, in a system which was defensively sound and would catch teams on the break with likes of Molyneux, Holohan chipping in for fun. I think JA has had ample time to sort the defence and has recruited enough for us to expect a better goals against record. But we also didn’t create a thing (minus the disallowed goal) yesterday, and he’s got FOUR strikers on rotation at the moment.

What is evidently clear though is he needs a little bit of support in central midfield in particular, where we are one more injury/suspension away from being out of footballers in that position.

What midfield, people go on about the defence, but the midfield is to put it kindly, porous and a bit on the lacking aggression side.

Desperate for a Willie Boland or Tommy Widdrington in Midfield to put a foot in and break up play, and then pass it to another blue shirt!

A relation of mine who listens on the radio commented how he judges a player by how often their name crops up in the commentary as a guide to their general involvement, he has a beef with Finney in that respect.

Evidence is using the non transfer window as an excuse to not get the squad up to speed for the beginning of season or even end of August.
After that ya basically scraping the barrel on a prayer mat.

8 players going on a pre season trip last season and then first game not having enough subs yes no evidence whatsoever. Southend in total dissaray off the field, have picked up one single point less than us now. In 6 months time i just wonder which club will be in a better position? On and off the field.

snowy mentions midfield or lack of it in our case thats a problem. defending starts with the players up front, then midfield and the defence itself should be the last line of keeping a clean sheet. apart from our inability to defend set pieces, which has been going on for years and nothing new, defenders get the stick when we see other teams breaking up our attacks well before this. too many luxury midfielders and good players only when we are on top on our books.

The pitiful squad is hardly evidence of the budget is it? They could be the worst players in the world but on good wages.
Many websites last season were speculating that Hastie and Cooke were on c. £2.5k/wk and that we matched promoted Carlisle and Barrows budget as examples. Dolan, Lacey, and Pruti won't be on peanuts either.
Raj has said he'd back the manager and he'd have a competitive budget, and without knowing the numbers that may or may not be true, the bottom line is none of us have seen any figures but many make up their truth based entirely in guesswork.
Maybe a half decent budget has been blown on poor players?

What is a poor player?
Just because a player can't defend or tackle, but can score 15/20 goals per season does that make them poor.. A player who will give everything in the middle of the park, doesn't look like they do much, but chases the ball around and always puts the players under pressure, they won't score nor a good defender. A player who is world class defender, but won't come past the half way line because their slow to get back.

Every player has an amazing ability to hand to a team. A good cross, tackle, long range shot, running all day, speed. This is what management teams are for, to understand the individual skills and have different tactics to use them on the field of play. This is what a budget is for too, to buy individual skills of a player.

Granted one or two players will be on good salaries for being average or injured. We've had some many in the past like this and this season is not different.

When you lose 3-4 influential players, And replace them with 3-4 squad players
Who are less effective. And insist on using the same system.
Your asking for trouble.

But what do i know, No badges just like the Dorking owner/manager

You can have the best academic qualifications possible but it doesn’t mean you can do the job at grass roots level
How many coaching badges did the managers of old have ?

Coaching badges just mean you have done some exams and ticked a few boxes how they say it all should be done. You don't need a driving licence to be a good car driver......

I never wished any of you doomers into a Raj home, making things up again. You should be either journalists or politicians.
Anyway Raj has enough problems without anybody wishing you lot on him.

You don't need a driving licence to be a good car driver......

but it helps them to say the rest of us know nothing about the game because we have not got them. how many drivers once they pass or fluke the driving test think they know it all yet accident stats say otherwise. 58 years ago i past my test but learn something new everyday.
