Like I have said many times Pools are a lot bigger than even our own fans think. Once again another excellent crowd on the back of a terrible season. I have ambition for us I believe with a good owner, money spent on a team or even ground this club can take off. Maybe moaning is down to the club having zero ambition like a lot of our fans seem to have, I'm not in the oh it's Pools we have to be shit brigade. The result was a win it's always nice to win but come on if we lost to Spennymoor it be said oh its just a friendly and last night's the same, we are still miles off a good team, that defence will struggle to keep clean sheets, still got a few weeks for it to change.

I think you're in danger of having an argument yourself here. Accusing fellow Poolies of having zero ambition is a bit off - not sure it amounts to anything more than that we're not all burning up with resentment at Raj Singh the way you are.

I don't agree with your assessment that "we are still miles off a good team" for the National League - but that's not an argument anyone can win till we're a month or so into the new season. I think Askey and Pools are on the right track to put in a serious challenge for promotion. If that helps to bring in a new owner with money rather than chancers without a pot to piss in like Monkey Hangers and Coxberg, all well and good.

To win the national league you have to win something close to 25 to 30 games, considering our best midfielder won't play for us, Featherstone looks like he is going and still doubts if umerah will be sold or not, I'd say we're still way off a good team. We might well be improving but I'd hazard a guess now we are nowhere near the standards of a notts county or wrexham from last season or the standard of signings chesterfield have brought in already. Though like you say I think we will find out how decent we are against barnet and gateshead who should both do reasonably well.

No doubting though askey has done a terrific job with the garbage he was handed and his proven record gives us hope that he can turn us into a team that wins more than it loses.

Nowhere near the standards of Wrexham and Notts county? Neither are half the Division one teams

Can't believe that people can claim a lack of ambition or quality of signings when we haven't seen them kick a ball yet. Even more so when they mourn the likely loss of Featherstone - a constant in an ineffectual midfield for the majority of his 9 years at the club?

Say what you like about Featherstone he played when fit for all of the managers during his 9 years at the club surely all of them cannot be wrong in their judgement of him . He is now 34 and if he does not want to sign then farewell, goodbye and good luck to him.

Askey wasn't picking him until Sylla spat the dummy out though.

Steady on, I'd be as surprised as you if Pools won the the NL! I'm thinking about a play-off spot. I dare say there's 2 or 3 sides in the division that currently have better squads than us, maybe even a few more, but not 6 or 7. The NL had a load of teams just making up the numbers last season.

As Grimsby showed two year back, and Pools the year before that, if a team makes the play-offs its a new mini-league. Askey has already mentioned that there's no transfer window in the NL - he's looking to keep on strengthening the squad after August. Exactly what Challinor did.

a lot of where pools actually finish might be decided in the boardroom if the takeover does happen and its an improvement on raj. no transfer window, so we can chuck a bit a money at it if any new owner allows it. at the moment without any new ins or outs i,m sure we,d finish 10th at least. there are many factors clubs have little or no control of. a long injury list with the better players involved or playing sides at the wrong time when they are on a run.do not forget also the standard of a lot of the officials will be even poorer than last season.
