The ground is so close to the sea the temperature there will be higher than that shown on the forecasts.
Not as close to the sea as Arbroath though.

MET Office says lowest temp is -2 tonight ,5 & cloudy at 3pm
The ground hasn't been anywhere near as frozen as on the run up to the Rochdale game.
The game will be on,no problem.

Chester Road cementary- used to like going there on lunch times from Brougham School. Was fascinated by ages people died etc. Must have been a bit morbid in those days.

As a long standing Poolie, the same as you, I am confident Pools are more than capable of fcuking up at any time in any game. They are also capable of surprising us. What will it be this afternoon? Not a clue but if was a betting man I'd put a pound on Hoskins to score for the Cobblers.

Northampton's last 6 games have produced the following;

D 1 - 1, D 0 - 0, L 2 - 1, W 1 - 0, D 1 - 1, W 1 - 0

So 9 points from last 6 games with 5 for & 4 against goals

Going for a 2 -1 WIN

If he’s fit Dodds on the bench and Murray starting is a mistake, other than that team looks as good as it can be

Maybe desperation….but I fancy a win

northampton on top, pools doing more and more long balls

Annoying just as we get better our fixtures are against good teams--should have got rid of Curle a month sooner in hindsight

good first half, slighltly fortunate to be ahead against a good side but we have done well

Great goal Umerah who has been handled well by Northampton that aside

I really like Pruti--had a great game so far, though think bith Sterry and Ferguson need to do better preventing crosses into the box,and Kemp off colour so room to get better

Will do well to hold onto this 2nd half but fingers crossed!

Pools improving every game. Great goal from Urehah . He had 3 players around him, turned the lot and right in the corner. Northampton playing better but at least Pools playing like a league 2 team.

Hoskins. Crawley winning means they are one point behind us with two games in hand. Of course I am assuming we dont lose another.

Dodds has to start -- gave us another option when he came on

Fast running out of games and going down I think

2 wins from last 14 tells that.
Cant fault the effort of players but cheap as chips recruitment since Promotion will mean we back in non league oblivion forever.

We can only pray that Colchester blow up, they haven't won or scored since Bloomfield left. The last 10 games are:- Orient (A) Tranmere (H) Newport (H) Stevenage (A) Crewe (H) Salford (A) Crawley (A) Sutton (H) Donny (A) Mansfield (H).

As long as we can keep picking up the odd point against the top teams and hope we can possibly beat Swindon, Grimsby, Newport, Crawley and Barrow.

Call or Bluff time now

Ratings

Keeper 7 - A step up from Killip
Sterry 6 (barely)--not effective at stopping crosses or going fwd as he could be
Ferguson 6 (see Sterry)

Foran 7 - Solid, a little slow but had a decent game
Pruti 8 MoM good defensively and used ball well
Murray 5 lucky to get that mainly for effort- hesitant and slow---didnt hide at least-should have been sent off for a ridiculous 'challenge' which left Northampton player with broken nose

Sylla 7 Best of midfielders
Kemp 5--poor game for him where nothing came off
Cooke 6 -- Blah

Umerah 7 - didnt get much change out of a physical Northampton defence and shit ref but excellent goal
Jennings 6- Improvement on what we had

Murray got a really good round of applause when he came off - with the score still at 1-0. Maybe he'd have defended the far post better than Foran did for Northampton's goal - who knows?

I thought Pools were excellent in the first half, when a lot of good football was played by both sides. The second half was really scrappy in comparison and Pools were slowly muscled out of it. Despite all their injuries Northampton had a better bench than us and that really big forward who came on towards the end made a difference. Umerah and Jennings were both blowing out of their arses by that point. Dan Kemp had an off day - the curse of the monthly awards strikes again!

He isn’t quick and he makes bad decisions

He got himself into an awful position and then in a non-subtle way chinned the player who beat him, it’s amazing he didn’t get sent off and may get a retrospective ban

Agree we did well in 1st half, was a good performance against a good sidw

He got a yellow for the incident and no further action should be taken. However, this is Pools.

And with today’s result, I think that is it. Farewell League 2.

Askey didn’t take the post match presser but thought Sweens was honest - to the point of also admitting we are some way short of what’s required for the division.

First 45 was good. Second - dire. But still streets ahead of what Hartley and Curle served. A good point if you’re mid-table. Potentially fatal when you’re where we are with results going against you.

Run-in looks brutal. Time for the players to grow some bollocks, be brave and throw absolutely everything at it. The reality is we were probably all but relegated after the debacle of the Crewe and Newport games. Miracle needed…

Aren't we 22nd? Which means, as fact, other teams need more points than us.

Askey has taken us from being terrible to being average, except we have a goal scorer in Umerah.

I expect this team to compete in every match, today wasn't hopeless, we created plenty, unfortunately we tired.

Askey has time to work on that, building fitness and making us more solid, meanwhile I would back us to.score against anyone.

Form guide says you could be correct.
Dont rule out a 97th minute goal from Stockport to send us down on G/D. :angry-tappingfoot:

pools shaded the first half. both keepers made good saves. anyone turning up with no idea of league positions would not believe they were 18 places above us. second half though was same old pools. never really got going and was just a matter of time before something came off for them. fair result really but the worst person on the pitch in the sacond half was the referee who seemed to find any offences pools made but was not as fussy about their play. nice also to see josh back in the goals and should give him more confidence. just hope that we quickly get a win like crawley did and everyone will feel more confident.
