If Celtic and Rangers were admitted to the Premiership, Seaweed Sturgeon could kiss goodbye to even dreaming about devolution.

You can judge the standard of Scottish football by the international team, mostly from south of the border and some qualify because their grannies was Scottish.

I sometimes watch BBC Scotland,ALBA and S4C coverage of the lower Scottish Leagues and Welsh Premier and i find it of a good standard and entertaining to watch with a lot a commitment.
I dont see much difference in the skill levels to EFL D2 but i may be mistaken.
Maybe the standard is the same its just the players prefer to be semi pros with other jobs living in areas where they were born / live, having a good family life. Lets face it some players in the EFL are nothing more than traded commodities moving from A to B every few years.

Ive been speaking with some pals from very North of the boarder in Aberdeenshire - they reckon the Scottish Championship has a mixture of teams who would either be L1 or L2 with teams like Cove perhaps being equivelant to NL possibly even NLN standard as some NLN teams are very good i.e Gateshead and York from last season ? without seeing them in the Championship who knows the story ?

They did however say Hartleys contacts within the Scottish game are tremendous. He was always tipped for bigger things and they still where shocked by him sticking by Cove Rangers for so long - dont forget Cardiff city where once in for him too.

there is no doubt that alot of these lads probably wont go full time until say they reach the heights of the scottish championship - we see it time and time again down here where there are lads who are good enough to make it in say L2 but they are getting paid Salary from their jobs and say £500 a week for a Marske or South Shields. Untested lads simply wont command salaries of £1000 a week plus paid by Pools or Carlisle if ya like.

wonder if in scotland full time pro,s do not get the inflated wages players get in england at every level. if so then it will be like it was here years ago when if you had a good well played job it was sense to play part time as you could not afford not to do it. pre WW2 they used to go ameteur at somewhere like crook or bishops, but thats another story.
