I'd forgotten what a dull second half with Pools comfortably in the lead felt like, but a few more of them will do nicely. Specially with Oldham and Scunny both winning. Somebody is going to get dragged down with a bad finish to the season - hopefully the sheep shaggers in Carlisle.

Molyneux like a different player in his proper position. 4 at the back and more attacking options definitely the way to go at home. Another great turn out and atmosphere on a bloody cold night.

Well done Pools and well done Kevin Pooles gloves. To The Hartlepool 3-1. Great first half and second half let Barrow play. Lovely to see Mark Cooper subdued as he was in my opinion one of those who got the great Keith Houchen the sack. What goes around etc Mark. And to think I said at the time I thought you were the best signing that Pools had made for years.

Cheers lads.
A rare correct forecast in the league
Should put to bed any doubts about retaining our league status.
Foundations in place to go for a top 7 finish next season with the papa johns trophy in the cabinet.
Onwards n Upwards.
UTP.

A neat and accomplished performance that was never really bothered by Barrows bull in a China shop tactics and the physical disparity made no difference. They played as a team and it showed. Barrow’s survival tactics had more in common with a Panzer division than a football team and look to rely on their physical presence than any skill, it works sometimes but fell flat on it’s face in this instance.
I don’t know what Lee is doing with the players, but keep doing it, the player’s confidence appears to be growing.

plus again playing as a team as well. that and extra confidence got us the much needed win. every player played their part even in that bore of a second half. however it would never be pools without one downside, bloody flapper killip. surely that kid from huddersfield can be no worse on crossed balls into the goal area and might know what one trick pony john rooney has in his locker.

Killip is a great shot stopper but as you say he is a flapper at crosses, really needs to work on that side of his game. It's all about confidence

buthas never changed since the day he walked into the vic. he has been dropped before but only with real substandard lads replacing him. could easily have gone 2 goals down last night before moly had a shot in anger. both would have been killips fault. afraid he is just not for me. the type of keeper who would do a gordon banks super save where the next shot could go through his legs.

Yes i thought Killip made ammends a few times last night with good shot stopping reflex saves but 3 times was caught out.

there was a time when he came out and missed the punch - once where i believe he was elbowed in the face and fouled but the lad should of put it away back post (we got lucky again there). Then another time where he became over crowded by players and missed the ball only for it to fall to one of their players but luckily again on this occassion they fluffed their lines and it went out.

I thought Odusina had one of his dodgy games last night too - twice going down giving away possession trying to force a foul. His passing was off aswell. The difference in just havin Lidds beside him to probs help him through the game just shows how valuable that man is.

White put in a decent display aswell but there was a few times had Feaths been on the pitch i can imagine he would of got a rinsing off of him.

Cullens touch was terrible last night aswell - really hope he doesnt have a long contract he offers nothing in this team. Jordan Cook is so much the better more attacking player. Hope Carver gets his chance too.

we just miss that replacement for Grey should he now be a starter. Another attack minded winger would be ideal. Fela should and would be my man to replace him but not sure if he has an injury as hes always in an out of the team.

Hope we keep that same team for Saturday.

for me cullen has always been poor coming off the bench. some players are natural super subs where others just cannot get in the game or cock it up when they do. its a pity grey has to start as he is pools best player as a sub by miles.

Cullen plays like Joe Allen, if Joe Allon had been a plumber.

Despite complaints about aspects of our defence, statistically we’re doing well, and that’s what matters. People tend to forget about the big picture and pick out their personal grievances, but it’s a bit like complaining about the shade of black on the hull of the QE2, it doesn’t stop the ship sailing.

Let the tyres down on the team tractor and the spud faced chancers won’t be a problem.

Agree, but the one thing that did almost work for them was packing Killip's 6 yard box for set pieces. TBH I've been surprised that hasn't happened more often this season. I don't mind the goal Killip conceded - hats off to Rooney for that one - so much as his horrendous flaps at the ball under pressure that left a couple of tap ins that Barrow somehow missed.

Great result, quiet second half but the damage had been done. Our two famous centre halves of yesteryear are teaching our young squad the art of seeing out a game. Conserving energy is important when you are playing two games a week. Win the next two and make a statement to the teams in the top half that we're having a go. Not to mention my wagers.

I thought Barrow’s tactics in our box for set pieces were pure back to the 70’s, put a load of Gumby’s in the box and wait for the chaos to see what develops. It didn’t work then and it still doesn’t now.

but more by luck than management it didn,t work last night. again we could have and should have been 2 nil down if it wasn,t for one of their players slipping. If i was a manager playing pools i,d do the same tactics on corners and wide set pieces where we have conceeded numerous times this season.
