Challinor was well backed by Raj. He brought in loads of players, perhaps most of which were not good enough. Now he is being backed by big bucks and their previous manager bought players from leagues above ours and he is reaping the benefits of that.
He can get anyone he wants so I don't think he'll come for our players.

I think we had a pretty average budget last season. We didn't seem to be doing anything in the transfer market that other clubs were not and indeed there were several clubs spending more. The difference was Challinor, we had him and other clubs didn't.

then thats the same for pools. there must be hundreds of players out of contract in the summer that we could pick up on the cheap now. its a case of getting the right man and the right man wanting to come. even with paying poor wages i imagine there are a number of teams paying less. both morecambe and accrington got promoted with the lowest budgets in div.2. we need a bit of patience as there is still over a week to go. if nothing happens by february or underwhelmed signings appear then the club will then diserve all the bullets we fire at them.

i was hoping for another player in before this weekend at least - few chirps from the rumour mill suggested a MF from sunderland academy but i think that ship has long gone.

See Charman went to Rochdale and Grimsby ended up with an attacker from Carlisle whom i thought was a decent player, will do well in the NL id of thought.
