As usual no. I object to the continual coaxing of people to ‘stand up’. A society where you have to continually affirm your views publicly is a society I’d rather not be part of.
If I saw a fight I’d try to break it up, but I wouldn’t go around as the sheriff looking for fights to break up, my actions underline my beliefs, I do not have shout them from the roof tops.

agree. just cannot see the need to confirm your views on race, what your sexuality is by pushing it in everyones face wether they want to know or not. as a country we seem to be getting completly obsessed by both these topics but at leased it leaves religeon alone i suppose.

You can’t just say you’re not a racist ( which is my stance)..... that’s just not enough.... no, you are required to be actively anti-racist by demonstrating your ‘credentials’.
If some people want to do that, that’s their business. However some people just have to express their views, but get a bit touchy when the world doesn’t join in their crusade.

I may be being pedantic here, but.... If you don't want to be part of a society that you see as requiring people continually to affirm their views, surely that means that you don't like or support public opposition to, say, racism? Because you would see that as something that is somehow coaxed and/or affirming certain views? I'm not sure that there's a neutral position on this tbh.

I'm not being snide or anything just trying to understand your position, so where am I going wrong? My question was a sort of yes/no answer as I saw it, in the way that supporting something indicates some sort of activity or affirmation which just seems logical and the way things work, regardless of anything to my mind. What is the nuance or whatever that I'm missing?

I abhor murder. But, I do not walk the streets waving a flag against murder or keep arguing for something to be done because I know it’s wrong, it’s self evident it’s wrong and most people agree.
Just because you see something as a high priority in your life does not mean someone else shares your high level of concern whilst agreeing with the aim you hold.

if the country wants to create racists just carry on going down that road and the road the country is going. they are doing a better job of recruitment than tommy robinson and his mates could ever do. free places for black students at oxford uni. adverts for black candidates only. all black panels on TV shows. adverts altered to get more black faces on them. met police lowering their stop and search procedure just to increase more crime in london. there must be plenty i have missed. i know my lad for a start whose mates are equally divided among all races has had enough of all this. in one instance a mixed race mate of his is totally embarresed by whats happening and feels less safe now than he did over a year ago. trying to be an all inclusive country may have eventually put the country back and not forward. wait till the inevatable unemployment figures going sky high again. all humans are equal but i,ve a feeling they are not anymore.

Personally I thought that the news the same day that over 700 kids in care homes in Lambeth were systematically abused by staff over 3 decades was even worse. Mostly black kids, as it happens. The ethnicity of the paedophiles doing the abusing wasn't revealed.

I heard that report about Lambeth on the radio, funny how the council says the victims will be compensated..... and that makes it OK then?
