FFS He,s younger than liddle.

By a year. And even then, Liddle had already played for the club well over 200 times before his second stint. Wheater has only played in League Two for a few years and his last season was stricken with injury.

If Wheater is fit then I'm sure he'll be great at this level, just like Luke Williams would have, just like Andrew Davies would have.

agree, but he has for a central defender who can read the game well. just hope its not wheater playing along side him. always thought he was just a big donkey who is good in the air and thats it.

Has Killip left? I ask as I am struggling to understand why we would want to spend a load of dosh (in terms of salary) on a 'keeper when we have no forwards.

I admire your optimism, but do wonder if you really think the deathly silence from the club on contract negotiations with last season's squad, new signings and an extended contract for Dave Challinor gives any grounds for it? I'm enough of an optimist that I've renewed my season ticket, but can't help noticing that apart from some fixture information there's been naff all on the OS since promotion.

Pre-season training is supposed to start later this week - not that the OS has confirmed that either - and on the face of things Challinor and his coaches won't have 11 players to work with, let alone a squad.

I guess there will have to be some sort of announcement about playing resources in the next 24-48 hours. No doubt Dave Challinor is working flat out, but at best I expect to hear a couple of players have re-signed, a few more have been recruited from elsewhere and a bunch of trialists are going to get a chance to impress. What's your prediction?

My hope is that they are waiting for the players to come back in to training on Thursday to be able to do a set of new contract & new signing announcement videos to put on social media, the same as last years.

My fear is that they are struggling with the budget that has been set.

My wish is that they should have tried to agree amendments to the contracts of players like Oates, Johnston, Sterry, Featherstone & Liddle to include an years extension on improved terms if the club got promoted. This maybe would have had better success while the team were on a high and before their heads got turned by other clubs. Then if bigger clubs came in with silly money, then at least we’d be due a fee.

With the Brad Young deal now done, maybe the budgets are finalised and we might start to see more movement on the signings front?

Agreed. Pools are at least getting an undisclosed fee for Brad Young, who WAS given a long term contract last season!

Renewed your ST, Are you mad.......lol

I wondered if the club has been slowed by Covid.
I believe by the start of pre training they will be more than 11 players there.
I also believe DC will be well on the way with signings.

But time will tell.

Featherstone will sign for Notts this week once recovered from Covid so could be that a few of the others are in the same boat.

Shelton not one of those... appears to have moved to Nottingham and was out on the beers with a few County fans the weekend just gone!

Echoes of Dave MacKay moving to Derby County to play in defence back in the day.

He was voted joint footballer of the year that season, at the age of 34.
