nobody on here is ever gonna convince me that a front two of barker and williams was better than allon and baker, saville and johnrose, or porter and boyd.

however im keeping this opinion to myself as everyone will have a pop at me.

Those are wimps' choices. REAL men quote the likes of Luke and Johnson or Phythian and Mulvaney when referrring to past Pools goalscoring duos!

But the fact that all 4 relegated teams did well in Division Four suggests that the league is of poor quality.

You know, there's a question I would love somebody to answer for me. I've asked it on various football forums and nobody has managed it yet.

What defines whether a league is good / poor?

You get people who say a league is poor because one team runs away with it & others who say it is poor because no team stands out.

Maybe it's just because people are whingeing gets.

Good point Spiff, I think the only way you can say a league is "poor" is if the standard of football played by the majority of teams in it is awful. Not sure if that applies this season, there have been a few poor teams but look at the way Rochdale have been playing for the second half of the season for example and there are some decent sides in the division that like to get the ball down and play. It's not as poor a division as it's sometimes been made out this season, but it does look like there's been a genuine gap between the two divisions - maybe that says something about the quality of managers some of us had last season, ie Scott screwed us, Merson screwed Walsall!

What is easier to tell is if it's a tough division as in anyone can beat anyone on their day. There were times in League 1 where even towards the end of the season a team in the bottom half might have a good month and then be in the playoff hunt, or someone mid-table go on a bad run and get sucked into a relegation battle - that to me is a tough league as you've got a lot of teams with not much between them. Doesn't say much about the actual standard of course!

while i agree with some of the comments on the small section of rivals ive seen, these lads and lasses would do well to remember that the likes of effy tinks and darrell clarke were the foundation stones on which this clubs current success was built.

when those 3 lads came in the club was a laughing stock. all 3 of them were instrumental in not just getting us out of division 4 in the first place, they were there at the start of something important. a turning point. when people in the sports media started taking the club seriously.

clarke, tinks and effo may be leaving, but the club and the town were a better place for them being here. this isnt the time to pick over their corpses it should be a time for celebrating the happy times they brought to each and every one of us, not least the goals they scored against the loids.

i hope every player released finds work soon.

Agree 100% Chipolata, perhaps this should be placed on Rivals, because most of them are so full of bile and hate it's unbelievable

Darrell Clarke is a peoples man, spoken to him on many occasions while been on the town, top top top top top man and very genuine! Bit gutted he has gone but it must be for the best of the club!

Eifion Williams is, for me, a total shocker! I was gutted even more so than Clarke's departure!

Rivals - hmmm could say many things about the folk on there, random at times!

Not just unbelievable, frightening. What can have gone wrong in their lives to make them like that?

Grabec - Bordom drives people to insanity and maybe Rivals is the pace to vent this 'rage'

Well, it would be comforting to think it was just boredom. Sometimes you feel that from underneath those grim exteriors serial murderers are about to spring, slavering at the mouth......
