Phonex ? is this the new firm rumoured to be re-locating to Hartlepool and creating 5000 jobs?

The last page didn't even come close to its target and that was when we had loads of potential buyers in the pipeline. Since then most of the cash has gone to the taxman (I'm sure most of the donators already pay enough tax) and they thought another fundme page was a good idea. Unbelievable.

You'd have thought that the organisers of the friends group would have put a few quid in to get the ball rolling. You can't really ask people to donate to a fund without putting a few quid in yourself.

That was what I was thinking yesterday when it was stuck on 20 quid. Surely if they believe in it they would have made a few contributions, even if it was only £100 between them. They are probably all scratching their heads and wondering why it isn't working again!

I'm quite confused regarding the friends group, they appear to have some kind of committee but it's not open for people to join.

They’re not exactly the type of leaders, forward thinkers the club is going to need in the coming weeks, months.

They won’t even back their own campaign banghead

They appointed 3 new committee members at the weekend. Can they do this outside of an AGM without consulting members or do they just make things up as they go along ?

The big issues you guys have is that every fundraising initiative paying bills now, removes the goodwill and opportunity if the current owners accept defeat and you need to raise funds later - which I think most seem to understand.

From a Darlo point of view I get why some who want to keep things going and maybe get to the end of the season or hope someone comes in to buy the club it's what most fans would want, Darlo fans were the same. At some point you have let natural causes happen so you can move on, it needs to get to a point where Sage show their hand of how far they are willing to go (how much they really want back) or you will continue as a zombie club.

Nothing worse than not being able to look forward in any way, from someone who got involved a little like many others when Darlo had issues, from the outside the Trust seem to be doing as good a job as possible under the circumstances but they will need a lot of support including time, patience and money.

I have no idea. I just don't see the point of a committee if you have no members.

Anyone aware of he history of the group and the ‘real’ reason it was set up will know why. It’s an attempt to mirror another group’s standing

If the new fund is being run by Friends Group 1908 will the money be going direct into their bank account ?

I just can't understand the thinking of starting a parallel group. Fair enough, when the Friends focus was on looking after the ground, that's a clear distinct aim and I'm sure we're all grateful for the effort that is put in. I certainly am.
Is there a fundamental misunderstanding of what the Trust is looking to achieve though? I appreciate there has been some beef between one or two people in the past but blimey, the club is in serious sh!t. This is bigger than any individuals surely?!
I can't see any point in starting another group when the trust has expert support, is accountable, elected, legally protected etc. The advice from the start, based on supporters direct dealing with exactly our situation tens of times previously, was to NOT give any money to the club because its just a black hole. What did we then do??!! The fundraising page was setup entirely for the right reasons but was fundamentally the wrong thing to do in my opinion. Despite that, I bloody donated to it as well by the way!!

And #FriendsareUnited... the thinking is all in the title. We, the Friends ARE united, not anyone else, just the Friends. If they are saying friends in the broader sense are united, this is also nonsense. We don't have to be friends to support pools but we've got to work together to ensure its survival, and to me that is by backing people who communicate well, listen to advice and are accountable.

The friends group are excellent at initiatives around the stadium and volunteering. That’s what they need to be focussing on.

It seems they are trying to be something they are not, and in the nicest possible sense something they are not capable of achieving. That’s nothing for them to be ashamed about, it’s just they need to remember what they are good at.

Think you've summed it up perfectly. They have been great with the benches and gazebo round the back of the town end. I read somewhere the group's aim is for a better match day experience for fans. The group don't need to be getting involved doing this kind of thing, it's a complete non starter and probably lucky to hit £100.

The initial page set up by Rachel was fantastic but fans have done their part now and we shouldn't have to put a penny more towards running the club and paying bills.

I agree with MadJohn we don't want people feeling that they've already donated enough to Pools when we'll need their help again if we have to form a phoenix club. Otherwise we could end up with no club at the Vic at all, plus what is the long term plan of this drive? Get to the end of the season then what? liquidation and no time to set up a new club for next season .

It's all very contradictory, one of their objections to fan owned clubs is that without a wealthy benefactor the fans are required to always be donating money into the club, in order for the team to play at reasonable level. However they seem fine with the fans having to constantly bail out a wealthy owner with no actual benefit to the club itself.

All of that coupled with the Pam’s People bullshit (she’s not taking a wage, I know but I can’t say, I’ll be letting her know etc etc etc,) tells you all you need too know.

It’s not personal, I know these blokes and quite like one or two of them. They constantly cry about being United and are wholly and solely responsible for the current divide.......FACT! (I’ve always wanted to do that)

If you're on about Mr Blue he has blocked me too. I have had debates with him but it has always been civil. Shame that he has resorted to doing that. We're all Poolies at the end of the day.

Yeah that’s the one. I know from your posts on there that you have rational debates, so it does just feel like he blocks people who simply don’t agree with him.
