What I saw today was a team playing possession football insisting on stopping forward momentum to ensure they retain possession at all costs but then having precisely zero ability or knowledge of how to break down or create an opening against an opponent who could've put the kettle on before ambling back into position. Wrexham then gave the ball carrier no time in possession forcing backward passes before we caved in to groans from the crowd and the pressure players feel when having shit loads of possession and doing jack shit with it before trying an impossible ball 35 yards up the field gifting possession back to the opposition. Fucking rubbish. Even at 2-0 it was the same shit.

We're not Man City.

Everything was at a pedastrian pace and played in Wrexham's hands. Just so very, very slow. We really need to play a more direct ball with a higher tempo, I reckon the players would prefer it too. Play Rodney (who was probably our best player today for nothing other than working hard, playing some decent balls and occasionally trying to beat his man...occasionally) closer to Cassidy and play the ball to Cassidy all day for him either to nod on for Rodney to chase or hold up and bring a wide player or central midfielder into play. Leave Featherstone to sweep up in front of the centre halves and give Woods licence to support the front two and get the fucking ball forward faster and get them backpeddling or better still, facing their own goal before they have a chance to get set.

I am all for keeping possession, you're certainly not gonna score many without it but we're playing slow, predictable dog shit which I reckon a pub team could defend against. The way we are playing does not suit these players. They can't do it. I remember Harrison saying earlier in the season that we wouldn't stop playing the way we want to, well that's a fucking stupid thing to do if what you're doing isn't working isn't it?

Perhaps this set of players could turn it around if the style of play changed. I don't know. He also goes on about stupid goals being conceded, well, they wouldn't matter so much if we scored more than them would it?

Why he persists with this 4-3-3 is beyond me. Got to give 4-4-2 a go surely. Cassidy is so isolated it’s shocking, not that he ever wins any flick ons. But even if he did, there’s nobody to flick it on to

The whole team isn’t actually that bad. We are just so fucking bad in midfield it makes the whole lot look like dog shite. Woods was trying (and failing) to carry three others today. Deverdics is so slow in the head that he can’t cope with anybody closing him down. Free kicks and corners suit him cos he has all the time in the world. Featherstone looked like he hadn’t played for a month and had spent that month eating burgers and pies. My arsehole is still pointing downwards so Hawkins is still not a footballer but today didn’t even run around and close people down. A team will not function without a decent midfield.

Harrison knows nothing and does nothing - I don't know what he is currently saying as I've long since given up on reading the pre/post match irrelevant ramblings of a novice who is clearly way, way out of his depth. Pam Duxbury may or not be directly culpable for the clubs desperate plight but there can be no doubt that she is at least partly responsible for the appointment of this buffoon who is to blame as much anyone for his major role in killing the club we love and worse, if reports are correct, handing the clown a three-year contract. Unbelievable Jeff.

What formation does anybody think we were trying to play today?

Any guesses?

Well it appeared very disjointed and for some bizarre reason that only Mr Harrison can explain, Hawkins appeared to be playing right win..... Coz that was always gonna work wasn't it!

First half we played down one side of the pitch weaving intricate little passing triangles till they fell inevitably fell apart, so start again. Players are just so slow to see an opportunity to pick out another player and appear confused/hesitant when the light finally dawns. They're an odd bunch, totally cold/ indifferent. There's no shouting, no fire in their bellies. I watched the Wrexham players, a few little narky moments, appealing for every free kick, over doing the old rolling around routine , it happens. Ours appeal for nothing, dumb acceptance, a team utterly devoid of leaders and characters who accept defeat with an 'ah well' attitude and a manager who has as much success as a plumber rewiring a house.
This has to end, it's getting to the point where we're in a spiral of terminal decline and the clocks ticking.

Agree with a lot of what has been said, but for the record it was 0-0 and Wrexham weren't making many chances before Adams' unbelievable stupidity gifted them the lead. He had time to clear the ball upfield but had spent the entire game turning towards his own goal in possession - all their big centre-forward had to do was back a hunch that he'd do it again and bully him off the ball.

Their second goal wasn't great either. From where I stand on the Millhouse, Hawkins looked to be appealing for a penalty in their box when he had a chance to move to the ball - they went straight down the other end and scored. I'd be interested to know how people on the Clarence Road side saw it? Other than that, I thought Hawkins had a decent game.

Featherstone is no way match fit and shouldn't have played - he was awful. The rest put in plenty of effort but confidence is low and there's no goal threat. Another shocking ref didn't help.

We 100% had 4 at the back

The midfield had Featherstone in the middle with woods. Then first half deverdics behind a striker.

Hawkins was like a withdrawn right winger. Rodney kind of left wing.

And Cassidy upfront. Who ran the channels. With no one in the box

Second half deverdics appeared on the right.

It was just fuckin stupid.

This

And for some reason every player has to turn 360 degrees when they get the ball in defence starting the slow play.

From an outsider point of view i think you were probably the worst defence we've played against along with Torquay. Quigs was always going to score as he's a big physical forward. Craig Harrison is a poor manager and won everything in the welsh league because they were the only full time side in the division. Just hope Wrexham will kick on now and you lot survive and get what you deserve. Effort at least

Harrison is the manager of a full time club now but cannot beat part-time sides.
