It's not one up front it's 4-3-3. Franks, Oates and Donaldson were all selected as forwards.

If we play a front two how do we set up? Who are your wide players? Who plays in midfield? We had won 4 and drew 1 of the last 5 games playing that system. As soon as the result doesn't go our way it's the system that's the problem? We were missing out two centre backs today who have been the cornerstone of our upturn and we are probably lacking a bit of quality in the final third which the manager had stated he's trying address.

But if your 2 wide players are adjacent to your midfield and the lone striker is 5-10 yards ahead of them, it looks like 4-5-1, plus we don`t get up quick enough to support the loner, obviously being there to see it helps!

Yep just before their goal we'd had warning and they looked threat from set pieces all game.

Didn't help having a shaky centre back pairing

How many mis timed headers did Laing have, surely a main part of game you would have thought?

Oates only looks like he has 45 minutes in him, so does Rodney come to think of it, not sure why or whether it`s due to injury comeback sctatchinghead

Oates looked isolated and frustrated. Up front with nil service unless you count Punting balls at him. He did well not to let his frustration boil over. Not making best use of him really. Not his fault.

If we played 4-3-3 in the first half then I'm a Dutchman. it was 4-5-1 with the emphasis very much on 1 up front. Most of the time there wasn't a Pools player within 20 yards of Oates, and when we did get in positions to put the ball into the box there was nobody in there.

They were another " Land of the Giants " team and I always thought we were going to be vulnerable at set pieces and so it proved.

I assume they spent 6 hours on a coach travelling up here this morning the way they tired in the last half an hour, and if either Rodney or Simpson had converted their 1 on 1's with 20 minutes left we would probably have taken at least a point from the game.

He took his time switching to 4-4-2 and getting at them, shame he didn't do it earlier.

Massive disappointment today, somewhat tempered by the fact both centre backs were missing and I cant imagine we would have lost had they played.

Spot on yet again

It was 451 today I think or even 4141 as Featherstone sits so deep. We need Deverdics in midfield over Hawkins. 352 could work in home games as we would have wide men, 3 centre mids to cover the fact that they aren't good enough to play as a 2 and 2 strikers. One upfront at home hasn't worked for years now.

Up to Simpson coming on I can't recall us winning any headers either up front or at the back.

It was beck to the tactics at the start of the season........shocking!

Player confidence brittle.

Losing two centre backs an issue.

When you watch that then go to a Championship club and see the style of passing football it honestly looks like a different sport!

I just don't get it. There appears to be sooo many opinions on here based entirely on the result of any given game without giving a thought to the way in which we have won or lost.

The Fylde game was the worst performance I have seen in years, probably ever. Now that really was worth venting over.

Yesterday was nowhere near that. In the first half there was only one team in it and even when we went a goal down I fancied us to turn it round. Don't misunderstand me, I am not saying we were great or it was a great performance but we were much the better side. They then go and score, to be fair, a very decent goal, well finish anyway and it's pretty much game over but even then we're still probing and pressing and had Rodney or Simpson scored with either of their one on ones I absolutely believe we'd have had time to go on and win.

Of course I am disappointed we lost but the manner in which we lost is important and it wasn't a horror show by any means so personally I remain reasonably upbeat.

Moving on and next week will be a very difficult game and I'd take a point now.

I had the misfortune to return to the Vic yesterday after a lengthy absence, partly enforced and partly because I simply don't have the appetite any more. First half there was nothing in it, Pools had more possession but Eastleigh looked more likely to score. Harrison then seemingly fcuked up badly with his half time talk as the side strolled back looking less than motivated, never switched on and were deservedly punished by Eastleigh who had obviously had their backsides ripped out by their boss

We were soon 2-0 down thanks to more inept defending right across the back four despite Harrison attempting to blame the admittedly shyte 'centre backs' 'Lana' Lang (WTF was Harrison thinking of when signing this clown?) and Donnelly who in my view epitomises everything that is wrong with HUFC at present i.e. he is talentless, lazy individual, lacking motivation and most of the time looks completely disinterested. Captain Marvel Magnay wasn't much better and the less said about Deverdics the better. In my view if Dover come a sniffing again he should be put on the next train south.

The remainder of the match was a firkin embarrassment, I don't know which game some of the contributors here were watching through their rose coloured specs but from what I saw Pools were nothing more than a dishevelled rabble with several of the players spending their time hiding from the ball. Simpson replaced Oates but what he brings to the table in height is negated by his distinctive snails pace - and for completely missing the target from the 1:1 position that he somehow found himself in he wanted shooting in the words of the late great Brian Clough. Jon Franks was never in the game, playing so wide he was often on the blind side of the linesman - when he did manage to secure possession his delivery was utter pants, although nowhere near as bad as Deverdics' on the left.

I thought young Rodney did OK overall when he came on, along with Scott Loach he was the only Pools player to emerge with any credit but he really should have done better with several half-chances and one golden chance that he fired straight at the keeper. I didn't see Mumms late consolation as I had long since fcuked off in disgust by then.

Despite Magnay's attempt at a excuse even more feeble than his performance yesterday this was much more than a bad day at the office, Pools were absolute rank 2nd half and if Harrison attempts to take any positives then he is an even bigger fool than I believe he is. He needs to address the centre-back crisis ASAP and also secure a decent striker from somewhere or other otherwise this poor side will quickly and deservedly slip back into the bottom four on the strength of this rotten performance. How the fcuk they managed to go 5 games unbeaten simply beggars belief - it cant all have been down to the presence of Watson surely?

Despite being an ST holder I wont be revisiting the Vic for a while however there can be no doubt that the owners and loyal fans (biggest crowd of the day in the Bananarama League at the Vic yesterday I think) deserve much, much better than this shambles.

Wow, pretty damning Mr Joe and very little I agree with. I won't elaborate because I need to get some kip before I go to work in the morning.

He's one of the posters who goes missing through five game unbeaten runs.

I think some people clearly aren't happy in life and need to something to vent at on a weekend to mask their own inadequecies. From a supporting point of view I personally wish people like this wouldn't bother going at all if it makes them so unhappy. Some of the bollocks in that post is hilarious, the bit about the manager addressing the 'centre back crisis' made me laugh out loud. Say anything as long as it's hysterical and negative.

Mind you I was impressed that his Mumm scored.

It was a game of taken and missed chances. They had two and took them, we had six or seven and only took one. Oates had one immediately after their first goal with a header, if that goes in we'd have won I reckon.

Three absolute guilt edged chances the Oates header, Rodney straight at the keeper and Simpson who was clean through and shot far too early. The first goal we conceded was absolutely awful as well, it seems a classic case of being poor in both boxes.

All depends what you're comparing it against. The football on display has been, in the main, pretty bobbins for years hence our current position. For me, I look for improvement week on week accepting that we aren't going to win every game and some games we will perform very badly in.

If we'd have followed up the Fylde game with the same sort of performance in the next match I would probably have joined those calling for Harrison's head because that really was an all time low. I'm glad that didn't happen.

Don't forget we've also only just lost one game (that we could easily have won) after a 5 game unbeaten run so until Saturday something was going well.

Like I said earlier, it's the performance that matters when you lose and Saturday, whilst nowhere near what we're capable of, wasn't the complete disaster some are claiming. We should've won and to do that you have to create chances, which we did, so again, something is working.
