It's an insult to Dean Emerson and Mark Tinkler to mention Simon Fistpump in the same paragraph never mind sentence.

Agreed!!! Also I don't think Walton ever actually tackled anyone either he barely got close enough and when he did it was invariably some sort of niggly or dirty foul not a proper tackle.

Tinkler, Emerson, Boland, Murray tackled people. The latter 3 we of course didn't see in their prime for Pools but they were still class player who had played in their prime at much higher levels. Proper players we were lucky to get at back end of their careers.

Tinkler probably the best midfielder we got in his prime and kept him in our good years (everyone thought he was old because of the grey hair) but the other 3 were better players just on way down in their careers when we saw them

And that's exactly the point and well made Phil. Most of the players at our level have some sort of weakness in their game hence why they are playing in the 4th division as Chip said.

The best managers will make a blend of all the qualities to form a team with winning qualities. I think my issue is that Pools fans for years make their minds up on certain players and focus only on their negatives and not the positives. I just feel a bit sorry for Feather as he seems to be in that category and gets more than his fair share of stick in a failing team where others are also out of form and playing badly.

There were plenty of numptys vocally barracking players like Boydy and Paul Dalton in their prime for not trying hard enough or getting stuck in.....totally missing the point you make above

Yeah but it's all backwards and sideways Chip, useless twat, he wants to try and few Hollywood balls or run around like a madman kicking people.

This keeping possession lark and dragging other teams around pitch is bollocks

How the hell did I forget about Jan Ove confised

Ok only a very short loan spell but has to be best ever player to pull on a Pools shirt....certainly in the modern era (can't comment on Amby Fogarty haha). Turned a relegation threatened team into play off contenders in a couple of months then back to relegation fodder as soon as he left

I agree. Three goals in 228 games is fucking pathetic.

Four goals. Leading goalscorer this season among Pools' midfield players. Not bad for a fella who can only kick the ball sideways or backwards!

My mistake. I thought he managed a goal last season, but he was saving his hot streak for 16/17!

Some clown texted into BBC Tees tonight to say Featherstone shouldn't be near the pitch never mind have the captain's armband, and also that Lewis Allesandra was 'garbage'....the mind boggles, it really does

He may well have been, but put I'll stick my neck out and say Tinkler is without doubt one of the most valuable players we've ever had. He produced the goods match after match, season after season. He was so regular you almost forgot he was playing: you just took him for granted.
If you could clone him, I'd have him in the team tomorrow and I can't think of anybody who would argue with that.

Featherstone was by far the MOTM today.

Been critical of him this season. However, he was excellent today.

He was given a few suicide passes too - possibly because his team mates have confidence in him to retain possession.

For those who criticise him for passing backwards or sideways, what about the many occasions over the last couple of seasons when other players haven't been able to complete a 10 yard pass in any direction? For example, Brad Walker had a good game yesterday, but without being challenged he failed to complete a simple 10 yard pass back to a colleague on the Mill House touchline. I'm not having a go at Brad, just using it as a very recent example

We have to accept the fact that there is a lot of fans at the ground with no fucking clue what's going on on the pitch.

We managed the second half perfectly and it sounds like that what Jones wanted when he went in at half time.

So another manager picked him and made him captain. It's amazing how many clueless managers we have picking this bloke who can pass a ball decently. Let's see if Jones picks him as well, Facebook and the other boards football experts will be in meltdown
