I agree with those saying Hignett has to go. He just has to. He has no clue about his team selections or formations. He has a right back on the bench (admittedly it's Richards) but he puts Toto out there instead. Jones has been a waste of a contract as is Harrison and still Billy Paynter doesn't get a look in. For me, Hignett cannot do anything to turn our season around and if he stays we'll be bottom 2 by Christmas.

It's not the defences fault though

If he had any backbone he would just walk and realise he's not cut out to be a manager, the style he's trying to play is just ludicrous with the players we have!. A new man needs to come in before January window opens coz I wouldn't trust him to bring anymore players in!

Jordan Richards replaces Rob Jones because of an injury.

Injured again, good!

It's sad that I wasn't disappointed Jones was injured, sounds like he's had a stinker.

We need more right backs.

I've had a genius idea. Stevie Howard for manager, Michael Barron his assistant.

*I've given up, sick of perpetual shiteness.

To be honest he should be playing for someone like Shildon.

Retention of players who simply aren't good enough is one reason why season after season gets no better

Depressing.

Off topic but who was that center back we signed a few months ago that was at Scunny? Never plays for reserves or anything but he was 22?

Are we just stockpiling them?

We're conceding some shameful goals at the minute as well. Hignett has managed to compile one of the worst defences I've seen at Pools in recent times.

As Ken used to say 'just don't embarrass yourselves'

I've seen him play a few times. He's shite. The reserve players are very far from Football League standard (Blackford and Catterick look talented though), even more depressing when you consider how small our squad is.

We will continue our relegation battle next Saturday after we loose at home yet again followed by the never ending same old excuses coming out.

You could pick anyone out of the crowd who could do a better job at the moment. banghead

Sheffield United I think.
Always makes me laugh when you start googling him that is always pops up with 'Mick Wadsworth bastard'

If Coxall is sticking with Hignett then he needs to give him an experienced head alongside him and Hignett has got to listen to him.

Always wanted to keep Hignett but he can go now for me after that line up.

Doubt we have the budget for both Hignett and an experienced manager as a consultant.

Ronnie Moore is free...

We've changed chairman, manager several times and overhauled the playing staff but nothing really changes each season. The only thing in common is the fans so therefore it must be our fault. Maybe we're all bastards and it's just karma. If fans could stop chatting up bairns on cb radios and shitting sinks etc we'd be in the Championship by now.

Parmo always had the best theory about Pools. Basically the Vic is built on some burial ground and we've got bad karma for disturbing the dead there. There's no other way we could continue to be so shit for so many years. Even when we've been good we've ended up doing something stupid and making it shit. Doomed forever.

I'm actually re-reading Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby at the moment which is a brilliant book. There's a lot in there about how you can feel cursed when you are stuck to your team who continue to crush you with disappointment and you're doomed to this for the rest of your life (bit rich on his part being an Arsenal fan even then but the point rings very true)

Is that where the oil come from that IOR kept looking for when they dug the pitch up every season?

Maybe we need to get a witch doctor or a priest in or something?

I think above all the logical stuff like him chopping and changing the back four every game could be userped once this damn curse is lifted.

What about that weirdo who got Glenn Hoddle the sack when his win ratio was only second to Alf Ramsey. He's obviously been overtaken by the legendary duo of Fabio and Sam since then.

The veneer has worn off and the solid oak manager appears to be chipboard.
It's like he's conducting some bizarre experiment.
Is there something going on, because all the players look like they want to be somewhere else and are just treading water.
I've had enough, season ticket or no season ticket, if they can't be arsed why should I be.

Rob Jones went down like someone destined for the glue factory.

I reckon that will be the last action of his career.

That back four is probably the most inept I've seen in 40 years of following Pools, 2 crocks and full-backs who can't even tackle. My advice to Hignett....bin the lot of them and start again, beyond embarrassment.

Featherstone's tackle
Carroll's defending
Rob Jones's look of bewilderment after kicking their players leg
Toto's cross field pass
Even Carson's fumble at the end

These players are not playing for the manager. There's only one outcome and it's not going to get any better any time soon.

Watch Port Vale get a glamorous money earning away tie. I didn't expect to win really but I did expect us to turn up considering the importance of it and maybe grab a draw.

If we finish where we are now I'll be relieved.

Days like today suggest we may sail a little closer to the wind.

Are we in a Relegation Battle? Big question...

Jones injury looked serious. Carried off on a stretcher.
Think Richards has a knock, and that is why Harrison (suspended today) was at right back last week and Toto was there this week.
Higgy sent to stand after linesman missed a stamp on Woods right in front of him.
However, overall we were absolute garbage. No passion,no pride and far too many players out of form and/or in the wrong position. Don't know how much longer this can be allowed to go on for but it is getting increasingly worrying.

i went today for my sins, I think Carroll was responsible for at least 2 of the goals and was dog sh1t all the way through, Jones was good in the air but is slower than me on the floor, Bates average and Toto didn`t know where he was most of the game.

Why he dropped Hawkins when he is our best midfielder for Woods, who manages to limp after every tackle and was poor today,Featherstone needs to understand when to put his foot through it rather than looking for a pass when surrounded, will he ever learn?

Some of our passing today was woeful, a basic skill really and one which most of them shouldhave mastered by now, Amond was his usual energetic self but he needed help, Paynter came on and had a couple of decent touches before slipping back to being bullied and he went too deep and was no benefit.

Hignett being sent off was a petulant hissy fit because Woods was apparently fouled right in front of him and it wasn`t given, cue the swearing at the lino and ref and in the stands he went, to what end?, pointless and sums him up, he has been found wanting and has nowt up his sleeve!

Time to GO.

Hawkins our best midfielder, really?

Can someone tell me what he does then?

He's scored in one game of his career you wouldn't say he puts his foot in and breaks up play. So what is he good at if he's our best midfielder? We don't have a best midfieider, someone who can run a game, that is one of our major problems.

Went yesterday , not disappointed as was not expecting anything else , this is what happens when you support pools , but the fans are first class and deserve better , the commitment of the present team and management don't deserve the support , personally I feel they are taking the piss out of us and it needs to end , we will not escape relegation this season unless changes happen sooner rather the later hignett and co seem to have lost the plot along with any idea

THIS IS THE PROBLEM! You should be expecting more, it's not good to set off with the benchmark of not expecting anything because you support Pools. We've had a century of this and now it's part of our mindset, it's wrong.

We seem to have a lifelong celebration of being crap. We just accept it.
I could see the reason for most of my life supporting the team, they were skint.
Time has moved on and it's time to get off our knees, we're doing them the favour and while we don't own it, it's our club and we'd like someone, anyone to get a fucking grip!
We deserve better !

There, I've said it.

That used to be the whole raison d'etre for some Pools supporters. The original "Never Say Die" single was a testament to this. We seem to have turned full circle from the heady days of the "Noughties" and are now firmly ensconced in lower reaches of the football league.. oh well at least We never say die! ..

There are plenty that secretly prefer it that way. It means they can always stand in the same spot, never have to queue for away tickets, have less people in their way stopping them sucking up to the right people.

Its always been thus.

Some people must get some twisted masochistic pleasure from it, but we're stereotyped as failures by most people and some of the fans are so dumb as to accept it as natural. 'We're Pools we're rubbish'...... NO..... We are what we allow ourselves to be.
Expectation, it's time we had some!

He hasn`t a great deal of competition to be honest, he tries to drive forward and is more tenacious than the others, has a great shot when given the space and time but gets made a scapegoat, you watch, even if he is having a good game, he will get pulled.
