Worst I've seen England play ever. By all means give Iceland credit but we were SHITE.

Fuck this possession footy, lets admit we're shite and setup like Iceland. Pick players who will fight to win and goalkeepers with left hands.

Dunno like, or aren't you old enough to remember the Graham Taylor era?

It was the absolutely shocking way they couldnt control the ball or pass it simply and the lack of movement.

It was alarmingly bad.

Should have took Andy Carroll. Even we could surely manage lumping the ball forward.

Unbelievable. The team was set up to stretch Iceland, but what did they do, hold onto the ball, slow build up to let Iceland get 11 players behind the ball and hold their formation. Final ball was terrible and never tested their keeper.

Congratulations to Iceland for a deserved victory.

Once again England flatter to deceive at a major tournament.

I watched Channel 4 news before the game and was deeply ashamed and depressed by the country and region I was born into. I had no stomach for the game after that and went for a nice walk on a pleasant evening instead. The result didn't really surprise me. Roy would have been binned by any other country after the last world cup shambles, he is not remotely inspirational and seemed permanently all of a dither or on the verge of nervous meltdown. Having said that, I suppose we should expect that, with the country in turmoil, the national team should be no different.

Take the foreigners out of the Premier League and its f***** !
I hope all the 'big' clubs fans and Sky are pleased what the influx of foreign players has done to the National Team.

Iceland were a an organised team, I emphasise the word team. It quickly became apparent Iceland were no walkover and physically they out muscled the wet bunch we call England. It was precocious but pea hearted prima donnas against a team with a will to win. England wilted and looked like what they really are vastly over rated.
Doubtless the FA will select another presentable gent with impeccable manners and as inspiring as a weekend stripping down a sea water pump in the North Sea in January.
It wil just go on like the Groundhog Day that is the England team. New manager, new dawn, new disappointment. Nowt changes

It will no doubt be Southgate if the FA believes in what it's setup.

More importantly, when we're out the EU can we force teams to have so many English players? Or at the very least UK players. All this money just means more exotic foreign managers and players coming in to the detriment of the national team, not that the premier league gives a crap about that. Instead, if they had a quota of British players they'd surely have to invest money into coaching youngsters and take it seriously rather than loaning them out until they're 25.

I'm sure I read that all kids coaches in Iceland have the highest UEFA badges. That would be a start.

Shearer's thrown his hat in the ring and why the fook not. He may stand a chance simply as there are no stand out options.

How long before Joe Hart appears in an Iceland ad dropping some frozen fish.

Reading the Sun (free at Shell Garage) and in the player ratings they give Rooney an 8 and Kane a 7.

Rooney was at best a 5 and Kane did nothing apart form pepper the stand with dodgy free kicks, 5 at best for him.

Hodgson should be made to give back the £14 million (+ interest) they have paid him for taking us back even further than before. I think the only one who could make a better job is Cloughy even now, lets dig him up.

Kane was an embarrassment. But in his defence, its got to be a confidence issue.

He was superb for Spurs, and yet here he didnt look fit to even be there as a fan.

I found his performances very very strange and very sad.

He is a young player, and has had a very good but very long season.

We didnt get to see the best of Him, Alli or Dier. All three suffered at the end of spurs season.

Its no coincidence.

We have some great young talent as well, who sadly never got a sniff.

I can't believe he didn't make changes earlier, what's the point in bringing on Rashford with 4 minutes to go?

Spurs are a young side with a lot of potential but they've won nothing and bottled their end of season run in so badly that Newcastle thrashed them 5-1 in the final match of the season (I was there).

So, Hodgson makes 5 Spurs players the spine of his England team and includes only one Leicester player in his entire squad.

The man massively overrated technique over team spirit - ditto with picking an unfit Jack Wilshire, Mr. Can I Be Arsed? Sturridge and a couple of Man City players who'd had really mediocre seasons.

I wonder how the Teflon coated dandruff kid in goal gets away with being picked all the time. Is he really the best keeper.

Just another in a long line of England managers who picks players on reputation and which club they play for as opposed to having a style of play/formation he wants and picking players in form who fit that style/formation
