You cant really go wrong with Cormac McCarthy, I think Ive read pretty much everything he's written and he never fails to deliver. I read The Border Trilogy over the course of about a year, fantastic stuff.

I've just done the same with The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, she only knocks one book out every 10 years, but they are always long, and beautifully crafted, so I tend to take my time reading them. This one took me about 14 months to complete, just reading it as and when the mood took me.

The Border Trilogy is next on my list after I read Morrissey's autobiography. I studied The Road at A-Level and immediately bought the rest of his work and am going through his stuff in the order he wrote it. Very much looking forward to it.

I love Stick Man, if I'd been working away the eldest would want me to read that to himwhen I came home, 'back in the family tree' and that.

Tootles the Taxi is still ellish, read that to the youngest now.

My mam found my 'little worm book' a couple of weeks ago and it's a firm favourite at the moment. I'll get round to reading it to the bairns at some point.

Bugger me!!! Tootles the Taxi!!!

What a blast from the past that is....forgot I ever had that book, loved it :)

'Foreskins Lament' by Shalom Auslander was a good read some months ago. He got himself addicted to hamburgers as a young Jewish kid. A book with attitude.

I'm reading Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. Just finished Girl with a Pearl Earring and The English Patient. All great choices :)

I read Mitchell's debut book Ghostwritten and thought it was (mostly) 'ellish. But out of the 5 or 6 stories in this one, the only one I enjoyed was the Soylent Green inspired one. I pretty much hated the rest. Very disappointing.

I notice a lot of people choose (auto)biographies. The only biography I ever enjoyed was the 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared.
I read a lot when I'm in a reading phase, but bios don't ever make it onto the list. In fact I can't think of anything more tedious.
