So does anyone believe this claim from Russ they are still putting in a million a season ?

Year on year we seem to be cutting the number of players, to the point where we now only have about 14 or 15, so how can they still be putting in the money they were 3 or 4 year ago ?

And if they are sticking in a million a year how do the fans run clubs in our division manage with no subsidy from an owner ? Its not like they could have any less players than us is it ?

(1) the bloke is an employee of the club, he doesn't own it. He is therefore tied by any business restrictions and caveats that the chairman dictates.

(2) he is not a fat fool. He may not be a model but what difference does that make. With the daily challenges he faces he is a friggin miracle worker to keep the club operating at as minimal a loss as possible, to retain so many employees in the town, and to enable the club to have the size of the squad we have. He does not play on the pitch.

(3) the masterstroke for this season was the retention of Collins and Monkhouse. Ridiculed by countless at the start of the season. Monkhouse absence from the team shows you at time what is missed - missed first five games of six match losing run - says a lot. Collins - blokes a real pro shown by the fact he was hardly played and slots into back spot like and playing like he five year younger. Both players could have left in the summer. They never. Next year should see cooper build his own team.

(4) I spoke to him before, during and after the game. He was as nervous and as tense as the very wound up players before hand, confessed to having just two hours sleep. Other stuff spoke about makes you know he's committed. The range of emotions he showed through the game was the same as every other true pools fan. And after, well he was riding the crest of a wave like everyone else.

I am not his mate , I am not a club man ( yeah I write for the programme etc, but I am well and regularly edited) , not an arselicker - just giving the view as I see it with just spending some time with him. If you think it's hard being a poolie try walking a mile in his shoes. (Talking of which he's also doing 3 peaks challenge with cooper and co for his charity, 26 miles of walking)

Good job he is there if you ask me. There my be better people to do the job, but would they be as committed? Doubt it.

if they are putting in a million a year we are not complying with FFP.

So either they are lying about the million

or Hodcroft is lying about FFP.

Interesting that Smokin Joe is now singing the praises of Russ Green and talking bout loyalty. Which Bunker member do you think said this a year ago ?

Seriously, Russ gave this magnificent powerpoint assisted speech. There were people down the front so excited I thought they were going to faint. The only thing I've seen comparable was pilgrims under the balcony at the Vatican.

Then this gadge from Robinsons got up and spoke well, and it all looked great till he said " And by the way, theres a £5 million pound hole in the finances we cant fill, so while the artists impressions look marvellous, nobody has the money to pay for it , right any questions ? "

Obviously at that point point there was one bleeding obvious question needed asking, but nobody could because the tickled belly elite took it in turns to stand up and make speeches for hours on end like they do in the Houses of Parliament when they want to stop a bill getting through.

One old gadge down the front spoke for about 25 minutes regarding the charity work Russ does. All very impressive I have to say. Someone on the panel even had the fucking gall to say at the end of it " Was that a question ? " to which the gadge replied " no, I just think IOR should get the ground. "

I dont mind Russ, he probably is an alright sort of bloke, and I appreciate to a certain extent his hands are tied by whoever is above him, but just once it would be nice to be treated like adults and told whats actually going on as opposed to what they would like you to think is going on.

Which team you support isnt really a choice is it. The clubs know this and exploit it.

Of course, there are those that have said "no more", and have just stopped going regularly.

I am one of them, and I dont intend to change that, until I see changes at the club that stop the "jobs for the boys" mentality that has recently been allowed to surge.

I am not giving money to an employer that employs some of the people it does, and then those give jobs to other equally unqualified people. Cant do it. Sorry.
