i think since we didnt qualify for 2008 english players n the national team have been anything but over rated, no one expects us to win the world cup, we're viewed as lucky to qualify, who is over rating us?

sky arent, bbc arent, the papers or radio arent.

Individually we have some decent players, but as a collective team i dont think anyone is over rating us or even rating us to be anything over than average or poor.

It wasn't illegal for Luscombe to eat a thousand kebabs but it wasn't what you expect from an athlete. The press are bound to release stories when it will get the most coverage and they do keep a lot of stuff quiet. Given the level of fitness needed in modern football I'd say any international that gets pictured with a bottle of vodka or inhaling gasses should sort themselves out. Just being as fit as you can should be a minimum requirement for any footballer not just an international.

doesn't winning titles in Sweden count sctatchinghead

Does it shite[
Rubbish, you said he had won nothing in his career.Well he has and it don't matter which country it was he won the league there.
Are you happy with that level of success then Dykey? I think it's woeful personally and no amount of pedantry will alter that. The man has won nothing of note other than a tinpot league and some Danish cup wins

So no player should be picture having a good time on there holidays then?? Unbelievable comments. You do realise there's less calories in vodka than beer, seemed an appropiate point as your banging on about fitness. The way I see it, anybody going on holiday can do whatever the fuck they want aslong as its within the law. Laughing gas is fuck all and neither is vodka. Its hardly as if it was before a game. The thing the press try to make out is its as if this happened last week and its a major crime. Its fuck all. We have a very big game so this is what they do. If we lose tonight there will be another story for the Montenegro game. Then if we qualify they will wait till 2 weeks or less before the start and publish personal details about players.

Why should a player sort themselves out just because they were pictured with a bottle of vodka during there holidays??

spot on RB, it was pre-season, it was during walkers down time, if he's doing that during the season then fair enough he's daft but i doubt he is judging by his fitness levels last week for england.

every player is a human being and when hes not playing footy n having 5 weeks off he is allowed to let his tiny black curly hair down n enjoy himself.

it was legal, whats the big deal.

if they released the photo during the summer no fuss would have been made and if glenn johnson was playing tonight it wouldnt have been released but as he's playing tonight its relevant.

pathetic.

Athletes that want to perform at the top level shouldn't abuse substances legal or illegal. Laughing gas and vodka might be fuck all to you but when somebody is getting paid a fortune for playing football and represents their country in the sport you expect them to look after their body properly even on holiday. The idea that you should get five weeks in the summer to get hammered doesn't quite reflect state of the art fitness training advice.

How did the press make out it happened last week? If you can show me the article that does that I'll be very surprised. Most likely reason it came out recently is because somebody sold them the photo recently even though they took it in the summer. They might have waited to publish but that way you risk somebody else running the story before you do.

The Southern press are absolute not nice people who are more of a hindrance than a help to the national team.

Does anyone think the timing of the release of this picture has been deliberately delayed to the point of it coming at a time that will cause the most disruption possible? It was taken in June and it emerges a few days before England's biggest qualifier for years.

They're all still gutted their droopy faced mate Redknapp didn't get the job.

Yeah I've acknowledged that he's won the equivalent of the Scottish First Division.

Do you fancy answering my question?

And that's exactly the problem isn't it? Putting dinosaurs in who are unlikely to win or change anything. Wholesale changes are needed and have been for some time. I'm just glad Redknapp didn't get the job

At what point did the job of the press become helping the national team? Was Craig Hope's job to help Pools or to tell the truth as he saw it? Was he supposed to be worried about pleasing Ken or informing the readers?

The press already agree to cover up too much stuff in exchange for stories from the big clubs- don't bite the hand that feeds and all that. If top players don't behave like athletes then they deserve some stick- which is all that Walker got.

No reply yet about exactly how the press made out that the photo was recent and all the reports I can find clearly state it was in June. All the stuff about the press ruining England's chances is total utter bollocks put about by apologists for overpaid dafties. The main reason they don't win tournaments is not being good enough at football.

The press have nothing to do with England's results, but they do love a distraction in the lead up to a match that Hodgson could do without. They are certainly more of a hinderance than a help. Some like that cock Steven Howard(settle down Birthmark not that one) have been onto Hodgson since day one just because he isn't Redknapp. The picture was taken in June, do we think the press have just become aware of them now? Or that it's going to create more of story to release them now?

Mind those saying he's doing nothing wrong are also wrong. He's an England player and a role model. Nothing wrong with having a night out but you can't be caught inhaling substances. It's not the right example to set and it's potentially dangerous (laughing gas has killed people) He has acknowledged this though and apologised, which is fair enough.

England don't have enough top players to win a tournament, whoever is manager. Hodgson is an experienced manager doing a decent job with the players he has available to him.

I'd have given the job to Guardiola when he registered an interest. It would have been an opportunity to change everything from grass roots through to the top roles. Why the job was given to Hodgson is beyond me.

Decent result, never looked like losing but disappointing in the final third. We were getting bodies forward but just kept giving the ball away. Wilshere and Walcott were poor, Lambert worked his nuts off but fed off scraps. Defensively we were better though with Cahill and Jagielka having good games, Gerrard was good just in front of them as well.

Happy with that. Solid away performance. Draw was always the favourite and personally im over the moon as I had no goalscorer, draw/draw and under 2.5 for a cheeky 174 profit. 2 home games to come and its all in our hands now. We did what we had to do tonight and that was not lose

I can go along with that. It's just frustrating watching us struggle to string 2/3 passes together.

It was a terrible game to watch, especially for Someone who doesn't bet.

Aye and move Gerrard up and make lampard sit out. He was poor against Moldova and even worse tonight.

Players to come out of that team......

Walker
Lampard
Milner
Lambert

Really missed Rooney tonight

Use your winnings to get a couple of tickets for the Montenegro game & treat the other half to a weekend in London. The game on the Friday night & on Saturday let her choose, shopping, show in the West End or whatever she likes.

Don't bother just watch the DVD  I'm as big a fan of musicals as you are of next season strike pairing of Nish and Howard.

If you are around the West End though book a slot in here http://www.byoc.co.uk a late one is best, buy a couple of bottles of something each in the Tesco just round the corner and be amazed at the cocktails they mix up.

Its the best time I've had in a boozer for ages even though its a tiny basement.

Happy with that. Solid away performance. Draw was always the favourite and personally im over the moon as I had no goalscorer, draw/draw and under 2.5 for a cheeky 174 profit. 2 home games to come and its all in our hands now. We did what we had to do tonight and that was not lose

Had 0-0 6 to 1 with Corals

No was a different one. Was about 45 mind away but it all runs like clockwork so was perfect really. Was called Ramada Docklands.

I've just had draw HT/FT and a five fold acca including the England draw up for £170 profit so also a decent nights graft!

World Cup is much better to watch when we are in it, though we are invariably shite

Hodgson seems like a decent human being, would have stopped watching if that gurning self serving 'lovely lovely person' redknapp got the job

Never back 0-0, always back no goalscorer. Its the same odds but you are allowed own goals.
