Open question here.

Does anyone who watched the match think the lad maybe tried too hard and shagged himself up?? sctatchinghead

I mean, he's been out a long while and suddenly has a chance to impress??

He hasnt "shagged himself up" he has torn a hamstring. When I did mine back in the day the physios advice was pretty clear. Complete rest for 6 weeks, with ice packs applied for the first few days and lots of keeping the leg elevated, then gradual increasing exercise.

When I asked how to prevent it happening again I was told all you can do is take precautions, such as warming up correctly with lots of stretching, applying deep heat in cold weather, wearing protective strapping, not running flat out from a standing position, etc.

20 years on mine still plays up, especially when its cold, and I never play without a support. Fortunately the days when I was able to sprint are long gone, so it never gets stretched to tearing point.

I think he has either not warmed up correctly-never easy when coming off the bench, or he has simply ran too quickly or stretched for a ball and placed too much of a strain on it.

Unfortunately some peoples hamstrings are prone to tearing in the same way some peoples shoulders are prone to dislocating, and the more often it happens, the more prone they are. With a disclocation at least you have the option of pinning. Alas whilst you can surgically repair a hamstring I am not aware of any operation you can have to prevent the likelyhood of further tears.

Good point regarding warming up, he stripped off ready to come on when the second half started, then sat down and suddenly stripped off again. Not sure what minute he came on but the only warming up he did from the 1st half ending was i presume having a kick about at half time.

There's a couple of reasons why players have to take medicals before signing on.
One is to prove they can get on the field and play, the other is to satisfy insurance companies.
If he's got an injury there's no way the club will sign him on a permanent deal. They might however offer him a month to month deal for starters like they did with Paul Murray.

Larkin boydy and solano AND LUSCOMBE would free up wages as you say by showing them the door. Also Collins could well be released.

I compared him to browny because how many people said they would have let him go because he was 'injury prone'. How wrong were they. My point is at such a young age surely he deserves a chance and a 1 year deal. Even a 6 month deal or a pay as you play deal. He lifted the fans with his effort yesterday and personally I'd love to have another look at him

Not sure about the salary cap or how it works to be honest.

If any Player in the History of Hartlepool United should have been on a 'Paid as You Play' Contract it is Luscombe!!!!

They should have been more Clauses in his Contract than Santa Clauses in Lapland!!!! confised  confised
