One of the subjects which keeps cropping up is the sale of the ground to I.O.R. If I was a candidate in the local elections I would agree to the sale but only at a price decided by the district valuer. The ground belongs to the whole of Hartlepool , and the council are the custodians of the town's assets. What troubles me is that we have no idea how much I.O.R. have offered or how much the council want for the ground. Until we get that information we cannot make a balanced judgement.

The ground does NOT have a sale value. The ground cannot be sold to anyone other than the football club. Its worth what the football club are prepared to pay.

If the club cannot get the ground then they are entitled to try and buy other land and build a new ground. Leaving the council with a piece of land it cannot sell.

The football club bring more to the people of Hartlepool than the council have ever done.

Please stop taking the piss.

Well said that man. HBC need to hang there heads in shame over the treatment of IOR who without which we wouldnt have a footy team, just look at the peg sellers down the road.

If HUFC relocate elsewhere why can't the council sell the land that the current ground is on?

What would they get for it, and who would buy it ? Greggs ? Poundland ?

There's already empty and borderline derelict buildings across the town as it is.

I agree with that and have stated previously that the value of the land on the open market isn't high due to its location and the fact that it housing wise it could only be sold for what is currently referred to as "social housing" and its commercial value is limited because of better land (in terms of location) on the marina for retail or leisure development. It's not even as if the supermarket next door would want it for expansion as Morrisons don't go in for the mega-stores that Asda and Tesco have elsewhere in the country even if Hartlepool was deemed suitable for such a large store.

It doesn't mean that the council couldn't sell it if HUFC relocated though, it just means that its value wouldn't be as high as some of the nuggets on the council might think it would be.

I wonder if he's heard any rumours about our hospital or who Pools might be signing in the summer?

I'm sure he still plans to borrow millions under PFI to get the hospital built at vastly inflated fees over the next 30 yrs. Not sure if he has any ideas on the squad for next season

My worry is that with all this talk of a Tees Valley authority in the future, maybe the ground won't be Hartlepool Council's to sell and the decision made in Middlesbrough.
