No they were glory hunting canouts, who have put their 'Pools shirts in a drawer somewhere and are now wearing a Liverpool/Chelsea/Man Ure/Man Shitty/Newcastle shirt

Well done Blackpool and Ian Holloway. Sadly this time next year they will most likely have been relegated back to trhe Championship and holloway will have been sacked.

Why won't the people of Hartlepool get behind their OWN fookin football club???

Why would he be ranting against people wearing 'Pools tops?

That was the point of his post

Ave gate for us this season was 3400 according to Sky news.

That not only put us bottom of div 1 it would only have us 12th in div 2.

Make of it what you will but we are punching well above our weight on this measure of success.

That is no doubt true but you haven't factored in the extra million quid of revenue from IOR. As I said the other week, on total turnover you need to be comparing pools with clubs averaging 6500-7000 average gate.

surely thats based on other teams not running at a loss too though? and as most do then surely you have to factor their losses into their gates also?

Or am i talking shoite?

Not that I'm aware of apart from the ones that have gone into administration. I don't know of any other league one clubs that are happily submitting a £1m a year loss to companies house and not having winding up orders landing on the doormat. I stand to be corrected with examples though.

Maybe they appointed the right manager(s) , who didn't build the opposition up.

You don't need full houses to win games, just the right team, the right manager and the right tactics.

Just a thought.

Im usually one of the first to slag us off as you may know but yeah Blackpool have shown the way but surely their are teams who have went the other way ie gone downhill quicker and further than us in that period?

I think Mr I is right on this, I can't think of another League club that is run on a deliberate subsidy of this size. Plenty gamble on going up, on flogging the ground and building a new stadium near a main road and even on having a splendid carvery. They end up making a loss but ours is organised so it is available for the management to use as part of a budget rather than just being the result of failure. In other words we should be able to compete with most teams with crowds of around six to seven thousand.

I wouldn't say Turner should go because he couldn't catch Norwich or Leeds but a decent manager should get us to mid-table and maybe sniffing round the play-offs. Given that a couple of clubs go into a financial free fall most seasons avoiding relegation comfortably is the minimum we should hope for, particularly from a manager who has recruited so many players. I sort of admire IOR for staying away from the knee jerk sacking approach but, if as seems likely Turner does get another chance, a strong start to the season has to be essential.
