It holds a quarter of the flippin town, you try and fill it.

Why on Earth did your Chairman build it anyway?

Why build a 25,000 seater stadium that could hold a quarter of the town's population when the Council could only give you a Safety Certificate for 9,000?

What a waste.

Well, these are the most important questions...because I believe it's one of the main reasons why they nearly went out of existence this year.

A comedy of errors at that club, I tell you.

In a nutshell, delusions of grandeur, GR saw it at Sunderland and thought it would happen at Darlo without doing any research.

I think the main reason for it going tits up was that GH gambled on the crowd increasing following the near miss play off season of 07/08, then gambled on getting promotion the following year also, neither happened and money that was already spent never materialised

We got an average crowd of 3800 in 07/08, now it would have been foolish to assume crowds of 5000+ for 08/09 but being nicely poised to kick on, I'd have thought we could have averaged 4000 but got 2800 instead and ended up in the shit. Apparently the beer was 1 degree too warm so a thousand fans stayed away

I'm no expert but as I understand it there's no limit about clubs going into admin as it stands, debts (other than footballing debts that have to be paid 100%) get written off after a ha'penny in the pound is paid out to creditors. yes it's shit I know

 ... but that means you could get a 25,000 seat state of the art stadium with them heskylators, gold urinals and mink toilet seats built for a mere 0.5% of its true cost ...surely some mistake. sctatchinghead

No mistake, business is unfair and administration is unethical especially as Houghton is a rich man but this little venture needed "wiping clean of debt" and fook the consequences

The FA can basically make up their own rules for extra sanctions a la Leeds, Bournemouth, Rotherham, Luton as it's been unprecedented until recently. Points deductions can be added for not exiting the CVA correctly and not paying the taxman 100%, we may even get further points deductions if the FA see fit to punish us for being in admin twice but that's doubtful.

I might put myself into administration, pop down the building society and offer them 0.5% of what's left on my mortgage.
I'm not bothered how big the points deduction is.

You could declare yourself bankrupt, loads of people do to clear debt.

We actually paid out 0.09p in the pound (just shy of a penny) not that it makes a difference

I didn't think you were going to pop down the building society, just saying it's all too common for businesses and individuals to do this these days, unless there was another point sctatchinghead
