Stoke are currently in the division on merit, their unorthodox style put Arsene Wenger when they took maximum points off Arsenal, they've also beat Spurs and Sunderland. They were expecting to drop straight back down but instead it looks more likely that Sunderland or Newcastle will.

I like em!

Their away form is poor though. They usually put everyone behind the ball and look for a draw so coming to pools and looking to win the game MAY give us more of an opportunity.

totally agree Chip. I would like to see the club reduce the prices to ensure a full house but reckon that will only guarantee a 5k+ gate. Any chance that pools would give say half the cyril knowles to Stoke? Not sure if the ground could cope with the segregation.

no ive said sevral times that if they charge full whack we will be lucky to get over 5000.

it will be cold, its just after christmas, lots of folk are skint at the moment, and a lot of the casual fans probably dont even know that stoke are in the top flight.

given season ticket holders will have to pay to get in i think anyone who thinks we will get a 7,500 crowd for this game is seriously deluding themselves.

id love to see it, but it wont happen.

The last two Saturday games have seen about 3700 Pools fans through the turnstiles. I think it's safe to say 99% of those will be there.

There will be at least 800 in the away end I'd have thought. It wouldn't surprise me if it sold out.

We'll then get the casual supporters in the town and people who live out of the town coming that wouldn't normally bother. I know of a handful already who'll be there who wouldn't if we'd have drawn Macclesfield.

I think we'll be pushing 6000 which I'm guessing will pocket us/IOR about 75k.

It won't happen and to be honest there'd be hell on if they even suggested it.

I don't think there'd be enough demand anyway.

From a business point of view, I wouldn't reduce the ticket price. We'll get about 6k paying full whack, and probably a few hundred more if it was reduced.

I'll bet any of you that the attendance will be somewhere between 7 and 8,000.

Show me your money.

last time i checked the capacity was about 7900 mr tax so i fail to see how 6000 consitutes a sell out. it would mean nearly 2000 empty seats.

we got about 3000 poolies for the west brom game and about the same for the second round replay. cant see another 4000 crawling out of the woodwork the week after christmas for a game against stoke reserves.

but i will be fucked if Ill admit Im wrong.

I particularly liked this bit.......

Ritchie Humphries ( velvet left foot ) Ritchie Jones ( ex Man U dribbles like Ryan Giggs )
Gary Liddle ( ex Middlesbrough ..plays it around like Geovanni ) Andy Monkhouse ( a latter
day Steve McManaman ) Ben Clark ( a bald Roy Keane ) and Matty Robson ( with a shot
like Robbie James )

clappp

and this.....

Pools have a striker in Joel Porter who is better than Mark Viduka ever was

clappp clappp

i will bet you a tenner the crowd is 6999 or less.

I will accept your bet if you are going to pay out if there is not somewhere between 7 and 8,000 spectators in the ground for the match.

I was referring to the away end selling out.

I don't think comparisons can be made with a midweek League Cup game, like I said the last 2 Saturday games at the Vic have got 3700 through the gates. 800 from Stoke makes 4500 so I'd see that as an absolute minimum we'll be getting. I know of a few floating fans I expect will be there plus a few from out of the town that will be making the trip. I fully expect the crowd to be knocking on 6000 and wouldn't surprise me if it was slightly over this especially if Stoke sell out.
