im no racist but.............

if you use racist language people will assume you are a racist. i hear the word paki used almost every day in hartlepool. some of the people using that word dont consider themselves racist, even though their usage of the word is almost always in a negative or derogatory context, and is often used to describe an asian person, irrespective of whether they are from pakistan.

like i said its a democracy, folk are entitled to an opinion, i found your comment offensive, as i did with your comment last week about black people having violence inbred into them. if you are not a racist why repeatedly make comments that are clearly of a racist nature i.e all black men are bred violent, all iranians are fuzzy faced and mad when they clearly are not ?

you made the comments/started the thread in the hope of getting a reaction and then respond with a thinly veiled threat of violence when you dont get the reaction you expected, and claim your comments were just meant as a bit of a laugh.

you could have sent me a pm if you were as outraged as you claim to be, but chose instead to make the comment and the threat in a new thread on the board.

i consider your comments racist, does that make you a racist ? well you are the one that seems to have jumped to that conclusion, i havent called you a racist and i defy you to find a post where i have.

most of the people on this board know who i am, i'm sure at least one of them would be more than happy to point me out to you at a pools game. and i will gladly tell you to your face that i consider the comments you made to be of a racist nature. i fail to see what it will achieve but if it makes you happier....

you may wish to wait until im at a game with my brother in law henry thereby killing 2 birds with one stone. you can ask him if all black men have violence inbred into them. he may be more qualified to answer your question.

as for mr i.... i dont understand him. like me he grew up in an enviroment and an age where racism and homophobia were commonplace.

on the one hand he seems to embrace muticultarilism, and on the other he still seems to have a very dated and stereotypical view of other races.

if he makes comments i find offensive or that i consider racist then i will raise it with him. be that on the board or to his face. as he points out he will often combat that by accusing me of being a lily livered tree hugging guardian reading naive liberal.

which is fair enough, because thats a fairly accurate assessment.

at the end of the day we are capable of sitting down amicably as we have done in the past without it coming to blows. as an intellectual i know violence would solve nothing, particularly as i suspect he still has access to hand grenades.
