I am very pleased with the arrangement. It was getting VERY expensive and I hope it's succesful enough to see similar schemes in following season.

There's only one Russ Green.

The best post yet, totally spot on, I think it's a great deal, less than a tenner a game, how can ANYONE possibly argue with that ! banghead

Because technically that aint exactly the deal is it.

The deal is that you have to get somebody who didn't buy one last season going halves in order to pay less than a tenner a game.

The deal is that if you bought a season ticket last summer and so did all your mates then you pay quite a bit more than a tenner a game. banghead

I am a non season ticket holder, if an existing season ticket holder in the mill house terrace would like to buddy up and take advantage of the discounts then feel free to send me a PM.

I do agree with many of Mr Rippers comments however, existing and long term season ticket holders should be given a bigger incentive as a NEW fan could get in for a lot LESS than a LONG term season ticket holder.... which can't be right can it....?

But you won't, you'll be at 18+ home games next season and you know you will.

If you're looking to spite Pools then not getting a season ticket and only attending the games 'when you feel like it' is the wrong way to do it as you'll be giving the club more money.

I bet there aren't many clubs with our attendances, if any, giving out incentives like pools have today, its a fantastic gesture and hopefully it'll give us 5k plus crowds every match next season.

Nope , you pay LESS than a tenner a game for the coming season, last season is gone, you've already paid it, next season WITH this deal you pay less than a tenner, thats the deal and it's brilliant. clappp clappp

Ripper......I dont understand you. This deal is superb for you. And your mates.

Four of you get tickets the other four get the cheap tickets undera false name.

You are all quids in.

I am complaining about having to find a season ticket holder then trusting them with 230 quid, finding the time to meet them, and basically not being able to fork out the cash anyway.

You and your mates are in a win win situation.......surely?

That's not the point though Dibbs.

The point is that because I forked out for the worst value season ticket in living memory last summer (i.e. cost v number of games, saving etc.) that in their eyes I'm not eligible to qualify for the best discount that they've offered in living memory.

They're effectively treating existing season ticket holders as mugs who they can rely on to fork out no matter what. Well I'm not being mugged off like that ta.

The actual cost thing isn't the issue, it's the fact that they're offering something to people who chose for whatever reason last summer not to fork out and making rules that deny the same deal to those that did. Penalising the type of supporters who they have relied on year in and year out and who they are now effectively taking for granted.

So instead of buying a season ticket this month I'll just stick an extra £414 into one of my savings accounts and I'll go to the match if I feel like it.

You do right there Ripper, I mean 6% on £414 after tax is about £20, so it's spend, spend, spend with the interest

I've read through 8 pages of this argument to see if anyone has put this argument to Ripper, but no one has so here goes.

Supposing the club had said, here you go you loyal season ticket holders, you can have a season ticket for £100. All we ask is for a little help, could you find a friend and persuade them to buy a season ticket for £314/£359 (depending on standing or seated). I'm sure as loyal fans of the club, you would like to help us increase the regular fan base, and improve the atmosphere, which was sadly lacking last season. We do appreciate this may be difficult, but if you don't mind giving up some of your saving you could offer to split the overall cost, so that you both pay £207/£229.50. Yours in anticipation, Uncle Ken.

How about it Ripper.

It looks like the Billingham Poolies options will be :-

No 1 son - season ticket holder, with me as his friend.

No 3 son - season ticket holder (but just reached 16) now in u19 bracket, and No 2 son as his friend.

PC trying to make her mind up about going, but probably looking for a Town End season ticket holder to buddy up with.

Still not agreeing with you Mr Billingham.

Now supposing that the club had said that EVERYBODY buying two tickets REGARDLESS of whether they were season ticket holders last season will qualify for the 2 for £454 offer THEN I'd have been happy and thought that they weren't trying to screw the people who bought them last summer when they were the worst value season tickets ever offered in the history of HUFC.

But they haven't, so fk 'em.

If you're all happy then I'm pleased for you, although I would dare to bet that the happiest people out of the lot of you are those that DIDN'T buy one last summer and who are now reaping the benefits of failing to support the club 12 months ago and who are now laughing all the way to the bank.

PS. One of my mates bought a season ticket last year but not the year before so he is getting doubly screwed- doesn't qualify for the "2 for" offer and doesn't qualify for the £40 discount either. But I'm sure that you lot all think that's fair too.

Apparently you only get the £40 discount if you've had a season ticket for at least the last 2 years.

We are waiting for confirmation from the club that my youngest will qualify for the discount. He has been a season ticket holder for the last 6 years, as a child, but is now in the U19 category. So the question is, will they let him have his ticket for £139 instead of £179, and can his older brother, who is also U19, be his 'friend' and pay £100. I need to know, because I will be the one trying to come up with the money.

I can see your point with regard to not buying season tickets last year. We only bought 2 last year, the oldest lad because he had his own money to get one, and the youngest because £75 was a bargain for him. We had had them for all of us for the previous 5 years. We simply couldn't find the extra 2*£354 and £179 needed, and were certainly not going to get them via the finance package, which would have cost almost as much as the 'pay on the gate' prices. As a result we are in a better position to take advantage of this seasons deals. Having said that I've just done the sums to compare, for our family. As things are at the moment our total costs will be £860; if we all had tickets last year and bought them this year, and found ourselves 5 bunkerite friends to bring down the price, the cost would be £860. So the only disadvantage would have been a little effort in finding 5 more people interested in becoming season ticket holders in the Town End.

I was unlikely to buy a season ticket anyway so it doesn't sway me at all.

However it seems that HUFC have somehow missed the concept of customer service and in rewarding those who have been faithful over the previous two years (or more) in buying season tickets. However you cut the deal by buddying up to reduce ticket costs it still doesn't reward past loyalty.

The only way to measure if it is a success is to see how many more are motivated to buy a season ticket over previous years, I suspect not many especially if there is so little close season excitement.

Your argument really doesn't seem to stand up, Ripper, surely if they said 2 tickets for £454 regardless it could have still been insulting season ticket holders from last season, In that if they went on their own they would have been just as upset as you. Would they have been expected to pay £354 while you paid £227 Or would ticket prices have had to be reduced to a across the board price of £227, meaning no incentive to buy 2

2 for £454 is either a good deal or a bad deal regardless of how it put over by the club.

Nope. Can't agree with you sorry.

This deal SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDES people from it. The one that I suggested doesn't.

:

But your suggestion does EXCLUDE people, it excludes any person who is a loner and goes to the game alone, in that he/she will only need 1 ticket. Which is what your arguing about in that you state if you and 7 mates have been season ticket holders for years then you cant get a cheaper ticket because of that.So you can actually say you arguing against and for what Pools are offering
It may be someone who travels from say London every week to watch Pools' and has never stayed for longer than the actual game , so he/she only needs one ticket.

We can all find fault with any argument , regardless of how strong, or in the case I have given here , or silly an argument is.

As I have said 2 season tickets for £454 is a good deal.

Have read all the posts regarding season tickets prices and have to agree with Mr Ripper. Current season ticket holders are being penalised unless they take up deception .... you and your mate both regular season ticket holders -one of you cancels season ticket - and mate (not interested in football) lends you ID for data base - hey presto - you get second ticket cheap. Advertise for buddy wanting new ticket.

I do feel that this scheme will not result in many new tickets cos many will use 'borrowed' names/Id to get in cheaper

I've been reading back through the thread.

Trouble is, we are not a wealthy club and never will be on current gates etc.

This offer is not generous to loyal, faithful, bread and butter supporters....but it's an offer all the same. If everyone takes this in the spirit it is intended then you all save a bob or two and a few more people may just come along and see the team play in what is still a good league.

The club is still a business and I know that passions are always high where football is concerned, but a deals a deal and it ain't going to get any better at the moment.

Also, if you made a season ticket £100 for all you'd end up with a load of poolies who make 6 or 7 games a year but work away buying up season tickets. I'd rather they were sold to people who can attend every week at a reasonable price.

If there were a good offer/gesture to be made from the club, then I'd personally rather the season tickets were kept the same for adults, but for under 16's it was a pound to get in, or even a token fiver a game! That's were our future support lies.

Whereas you have every right to your opinion, you have no right to speak for existing season ticket holders. I am an existing season ticket holder and I am getting involved in the scheme and I am not doing it by deception. I am going to save a considerable amount of money and, at the same time, am helping to save a considerable amount of money for another two people. I am winning and two fellow poolies are winning.
As for your suggestion on how to involve people in deception, I would be very careful before you embarked down that path. The club have put a scheme forward which you can either take part in or ignore.
You have got to remember who we are talking about deceiving here. Anybody, and I mean anybody, who deliberately sets out to cheat or deceive the club ought to be banned sine die.
The same people will probably be the first to moan if money wasn't spent on improving the team.
Your choice is quite simple............take the offer or leave it.

Do agree that the £100 per ticket is impossible for our club due to ground size/catchment area - but this offer is NOT a fair one - and as already mentioned, opens up all sorts of .... will use the word scams (but not really the right word - can't think of one to fit) .... for people to try and get the cheaper two ticket options. sctatchinghead

So you are getting two friends of yours to buy season tickets and are going to share the discount with them?

You're not just "buddying up" with some random folk off an internet message board?

Cos if you were then that could be considered to be some kind of deception, scam or cheating of the system.

Do you seriously believe that the club dont realise that people will just 'buddy up', thats the whole idea, to encourage more people to attend on a regular basis, they dont care how they get the money, just as long as they GET the money AND the crowds.
