jeez you were unlucky weren't you? in one cooper season we won 15/23 at home including a 4-1 win over torquay at the start of the season when we butchered them, a 3-2 win over bournemouth where we scored twice in the last 5 minutes AND missed a penalty in one of the most amazing finishes ever, a 5-0 home win over mk dons where we played like brazil, and a pair of 3-0 wins over swindon and sheff wed to seal a play off spot, the latter game featuring a sublime hat - trick from boyd including THAT goal.

even the few defeats that season were incredible games, the most memorable being a 6-4 defeat by wrexham. can anyone ever imagine a 6-4 result under wilson ??????

in his other season in charge we had the 8-1 massacre of grimsby ( these days it takes us 2 months to get 8 league goals ), an amazing 4-3 win over luton featuring THAT hugh goal, and a 4-0 spanking of notts county at the end of the season where they went about 3 minutes without touching the ball.

it wasnt just the home games either that season. we had 2 4-3 wins away from home at peterboro and wycombe.

both seasons we made the play-offs. if thats inconsistent mr head then lets have more of it.

clappp clappp clappp clappp clappp clappp clappp

Mr Fireball I had no problem with Mr Cooper in charge and was delighted we made the play-offs, but in neither case was it nailed on.

In the first season, two games after that Grimsby game we got comprehensively dumped on by Blackpool and spent the next half season mulling about in mid-table. Then we found some form again mainly due to Mr Boyd and scrambled in at the last minute by the skin of an Adam Boyd goal.

In the second season we had fifth top all but tied up when we decided to do our best to throw it all away and started losing more games than we even did when Newell lost the plot. That Sheffield Wednesday match was the only glimmer of light during that period.

Yeah it was exciting roller coaster stuff all right, meaning it wasn't consistent. The fact remains that I witnessed a hell of a lot of pointless long balls in the games I saw. The only exciting midfield moves all came through Sweeney.
