It’s called paranoia.

same for me. never gave it a second thought when i bought a tin of it. same with the use of prussian blue never made me think of WW! german officers. red indians were only something in cowboy films and black guys were the friends or foes of tarzan. some people who say they are not racist must think every minute of the day how to force there ideas down the throats of other non racists. the corner shop is still a paki shop as its owner is a pakistani whose only interest is people using his shop and not what they call it. his words not mine.

I still refer to ten bob sometimes or forget to say a chinese for tea instead of a chinky. I used the words Taffy, Jock or Paddy but usually in a friendly manner. No malice or intent to abuse or degradation even enter my thoughts.

How do we know that It was Raj's decision to close the Town End???
I heard it was Rose Stoker's decision but there isn't any proof of that either.
It certainly appears that Raj pays more than just a passing eye to cost reduction so I would imagine he instructs his staff along those lines. Nothing wrong with being a control freak as long as it is advantageous to the operation and not just an obsession. Personally I wouldn't have closed the Town End but I am not in possession of all the pros and cons involved in the decision process.
Why would anybody close it out of spite and to spite who???? Spite is an emotion. Businessmen don't generally do emotions. Is Raj known to be spiteful, His generosity towards Ukraine certainly didn't suggest spite unless he has a personal grudge towards Russia.
If you actually think about it we know very little about Raj, which is probably why so much is made up about him. The only definite influence I can recall about his involvement with Pools is that he got involved when nobody else was interested {apart from Stelling). The rest is at best educated guesswork which of course could be accurate. On the other hand..............

Always smelt of rubber bike tyres….funny how some smells stick in your mind, I suppose it was the idea of a big outlay for a kid on a new bike tyre.
