Right, Pietersen is great. You've made your point. Right now I'm more interested in Johnny Bairstow and Matt Prior, who also has a point to prove.

Well, Prior anyway....great knock by Bairstow like.

Are doubledickhead and Spender having a competition to see who knows the least about C ricket?

Feel free to criticise Matt Prior.

Rubbish shot.

Swann will be a handful in the fourth innings though on this pitch.

Yes.

I'm surprised you're on here and not at Lords telling them what to do.

Go on then enlighten me, what point has Matt Prior got to prove?

He is slightly out of touch but he's recognised as the best wicket keeper batsman in the World. Not sure what he needs to prove.

As for doubledickhead accusing Bell of lacking concentration when he was trying to block it  As I said earlier, clueless.

We've gifted Smith two of his wickets though. Prior just needed to play for close, Bairstow could have hit his anywhere.

Ffs prior , I am a fan of his but his record since getting cricketer of the year is poor, complacency ?

3 wickets to smith is really not good enough

You said the same at Trent bridge

If England won this it will once again be on the back of Anderson , looks like once again our first innings fragility is going to lead to a sub par total

Swann bowled pretty poorly at Trent Bridge but I think the wicket was too slow by the end of the match. It was spinning but slowly enough for the batsmen to adjust.

This wicket is already spinning a fair but and it has extra pace and bounce, with the hot weather it will be turning and doing plenty by the end of the match. Swann needs to bowl better though but you'd back him to do that. He needs a few runs tomorrow first though!

Crucial 3 wickets this morning, there's still no reason why these cant push us towards 400 but I'm expecting it to be about 330-340

love to see them get to 400.

But 400 must be only par for this track. Unless PJ has read it right and Swann spins it sideways.

great start from Jimmy. He'll have a wicket soon

the use of the review system could end up costing the Aussies this test.

Am surprised that last wicket stood though.

Great start but getting the top order isn't the problem!

Looks to be a good decision by the third umpire in the end and followed the protocol precisely.

Michael Clarke hit 4 double centuries last year all when the Aussies were three wickets down for less than 85. Just saying!

91-6.

Should Jimmy be dropped for Old Trafford? I fail to see what he is bringing to this bowling attack

Nice to see the wickets being spread around, Watson and his ridiculous review really opened the flood gates
Given a chance would we enforce the follow on ?

I meant not a chance we would enforce it, not that we won't get them less than 200 short.

I suppose this makes me a really bad person, but I sincerely hope that run out helps to destroy Agars confidence. Hopefully our batsmen can target his bowling second innings

Nasty nasty adg

Make them/See a/Enforce the......

Delete as necessary, and make sure you squash the nit effectively when you've picked it.

9 lost for 63 since lunch. Awful display.

Personally I would enforce but I doubt it'll happen.

Good decision to bat again.

Take their time and get another 300. And enjoy the rest of the test.

There's a lot to be said for both choices, but the bowlers are still reasonably fresh, they'll be terrified of losing one before stumps and a nightwatchman is usually a sacrificial wicket. There's still 22 overs left and we're 223 in front.

See what yer man Cook says.

And yes, he's turned it down. Academic then.

And if we don't take any wickets then all of a sudden a lead of 235 becomes less than 100 and they're eyeing up 400-500.

Dave Warner has scored 6 and 11 over in Zimbabwe so is back in full contention for a swift return

The follow on was never gona happen really. This test is over, weather is fine so let the batsmen get some confidence. No pressure at all on anyone, just see today out and tomorrow and stick them in Sunday morning chasing 500-600

Would love to see root get a big score and also partnership with cook. Would also like kp to come in and smash a big score.

2-0 up in 1st gear

Enforcing the follow on is the only way Australia could realistically have any chance of winning. Get a lead and bowl us out on a wearing pitch. Seeing how much Swann was turning some balls you don't want to chase.

England would win both ways but batting again now is an absolute no brainer, over three days left, perfect forecast, dry turning pitch.
