Moore has a three year contract, so I dont think he will have been as worried about the sack at the start of the season as many managers would have been.

Ripper makes a very good point about bringing someone in as cover for Paynter, however Paynter has been injured a bloody long time. What's worrying is that if one player gets injured, we immediately look to bring a loan player in, suggesting the manager has no confidence in the rest of the squad.

This lad might be a fantastic player, he might end up being another Mandron, I guess we shall have to wait and see. You could probably argue that had Moore not signed Mandron and gone 4-5-1 with Fenwick as the sole striker we might have been better off.

I guess the other disappointing thing is that we have tried to sign 2 strikers on permanent deals and have been knocked back on both.

There's a pretty big difference in pedigree between Harrison and Mandron in that Mandron had never scored a league goal when he joined Pools (and still hadn't when he went back). Personally I don't have any issue with the manager showing some forethought. Supposing anything happened to Fenwick in the next couple of games we'd be down to relying on a striker who hasn't scored since early October or Kudus...

As for getting knocked back on bids for permanent signings - nothing new about that, the important thing is Pools are still in the market for players and it's years since that happened.

There's a bit of a damned if he does, damned if he doesn't attitude to Moore at the minute - the fact is that some of his permanent signings in the summer haven't worked out at all, there is still quite a long injury list and if it takes a few more decent loanees to move Pools up the table, so be it.

We all know that Academy players at Premier League clubs are on stupid money - it doesn't guarantee that they will be effective in the Football League. Harrison's pedigree is that he's scored a fair few goals already at this level.

And saying Moore has shown 'some forethought' in getting him in now doesn't amount to anyone 'banging on' about it. I know what you've said about Moore's year in charge - you've been building the case for the prosecution for weeks, at some danger of repeating yourself.

What we need is quality permanent signings in this transfer window. We supposedly have money to get them so hopefully we will. Thing is with this lad from Bristol is eventually we will be the loser especially if he is any good because he will disappear back to Bristol and we will be left in exactly the same situation as before the transfer window unless we bring in permanent players. The plus point is we might win a few games but it is just a short term fix.

Ellis is someone who divides opinion and is a marmite player.
Personally I find him frustrating as he has bags of talent but he's never really kicked on and when you consider we have Marcus Stewart as a coach, who is someone I would think most lower league strikers could learn from, you wonder if he ever will.
He can certainly score goals and scored alot of crucial goals for us last season, many of which came off the bench.
For me he is more effective coming on in a game, which again I find frustrating as I just don't think he is a 90 minute player.
Like I say he will score goals but he doesn't anticipate enough for me and he is often on his heals. I wish he could read the game a little more but I guess there's not so many of those players at our level.
All that said I wish Ellis and HUFC well and I genuinely hope he does well for you.
I think if he does well there's a good chance you'll have him for 3 months rather than just a month as I'm sure something along those lines must have been agreed between the clubs before he joined you.
Hope Ellis plays his part in getting you some more wins in however long he is with you.

We play plenty of games in his month with us so even if it is just a month lets hope it can be a season defining one. Having players for a month isn't ideal but if he turns out be a game changer this month id rather have that than not have him at all so lets hope he comes here and proves a point that he should be playing week in week out.
