It"s rare that I hear a song that really grabs me these days, but 6 music played 'This town' by The Pussy Warmers the other day and it made me seek their album out. It's superb.

Been listening to Eagulls. Not a lot of light and shade but some excellent noisy business. They're on here in a couple of weeks in a small venue that I haven't been to before so I might go to see them if I can.

Googled The Pussy Warmers and This Town to have a listen to them, and this thread was second on the listing that came up, interesting music.

You get a better list if you search for their label Voodoo Rhythm Records and there are some other artists worth a listen on there as well. Hadn't heard any of them before so thanks for the suggestion Mr Nottingham.

Fully concurring about The Drive By Truckers. If you like a bit of country tinged southern rock why wouldn't you like them. Near the top of my they should be huge list alongside Vetiver. Mind I always thought The Three Johns would end up massive so I'm probably not the best judge.

Mr Mad, after you were saying how much Husker Du (I had never heard of them until then) had influenced the Foo Fighters I decided to have a listen, I think it was Flip Your Wig which I listened to first, gotta say I really enjoyed it. I now have New Day Rising, Candy Apple Grey and Zen Arcade to listen to.

Looks like I might have to get that Copper Blue one next

Richard Thompson - genius and totally brilliant live if you get the chance to see him. Solo albums Rumor & Sigh, Mirror Blue, Mock Tudor and Electric from last year all worth a listen.

That said, I'm on a Fleetwood Mac Mark One binge at the minute (no floozies or Yanks in sight). Peter Green's last album with the band, Then Play On, is fookin great, especially the CD remaster with Green Manalishi and Oh Well on it.

But I can't get a Danny Kirwan track off the next album out of my head! Station Man. Just gotta love that groove!
