I supported a chap called David Rovics last night, he's pretty good, bit patchy..but his ballad-y type songs are worth a squizz.
To be fair its a pretty shit recommendation, as I got bored, but 1 or 2 had a chestnut vibe

Continuing the theme of half hearted hearted recommendations, I love this song but the rest of the albums a bit patchy.

Top quality calypso for a sunny day and easily the best Mighty Sparrow compilation I've ever heard. Might even get Mr Tropical Poolie off the metal for an hour.

BTW I'm listening to this....again....

My REAL version came yesterday morning....limited edition signed by each individual member of the band....(and to prove it's authentic the bloke from the record company has used different coloured felt tips to make squiggles that look like the names a bit to make me think it's definetly ssigned by each individual member cos ALL members of Bands carry different colured felt tips)....plus T-Shirt with authentic Stornoway black marks which probably won't come out in the wash....25 snodgers....bargain!!!! :coool:

Love the Album though....and was listening to it whilst I had photos I took from pools toda with Seagulls etc on slideshow....it just worked!!!! :coool:

I was listening to it at Pools today aswell....a whole new experience....for those who have listened to music whilst watching Pools before!!!! :coool:

I adore this song and video from Razika even though I haven't got a clue what they are singing about....

I've fell in love with it I think....and the 4 Razika lasses!!!! :razz:

But can someone put me out of my misery and tell me this....

at 1.07 the vocalist sings and the tune sounds identical to another song....(could be a Britpop song)....and then at 1.09 the Guitar again sounds totally familiar....but can I feck think which songs they are!!!! banghead

But I do know at 2.52 they turn into Metronomy!!!!

I've been listening to (and playing) Bowie a lot lately to brush up on my piano skills.
Thing is, he understood the piano whereas I never really did when I first took lessons (admittedly at a very young age).
It all supports what I say: learn music (and by that I don't mean learn to *read* music) first, then learn an instrument.

If you listen to different versions of Life on Mars, he gradually drops from F to C over the years to avoid straining his voice, so you end up with a load of different versions.

This is the C version. It's not him playing the piano of course but the bloke who is is elaborating on Bowie's original arrangement.

The War on Drugs album 'Slave Ambient' is a fantastic album. Also one of kurt Viles old albums called 'Childish Prodigy' is well worth seeking out too. As are both Santigold albums.

Been listening to the GOAT album that Nick recommended on Fat Man's thread and liking it a lot. Also a French band called The Liminanas. Excellent second album called Crystal Anis, it has the feel of gallic pop from the 60s but with much stronger guitars and some electronic twiddling.
