Iceland then. And their national side is the dog's nuts too.

Bit chilly I'd imagine. Might need to dust off my fleece.

Were do you get 35% from, if you take away people not eligible to vote, take away people under the age of 18 and not deemed to have capicity and you will find over 75% of the voters voted.

The majority in Hartlepool that dont vote dont know how to, or when their is a vote, or why the are voting, or do they get free tabs when they do.

Please explain your calculation... we've only had a 72% turnout.....This by definition means 28% of the population who where eligible didn't even vote...

in a bizarre way, with the turn out in scotland being in the 60s percentage wise, they are culbible here in this final result, despite those that did vote being massively in favout of remaining.

I find the result in Wales particularly strange.

They have voted out, yet will be left to rot by Engalnd. They will be bottom of the food chain.

They must be thicker than the good folk of Hartlepool.

Frankie Boyle is very funny.

Unlike the moisturising gay twat that has just phoned me bragging about the vote.

Well the practical things have already begun.....Morgan Stanley looking to move 2000 jobs out of London, Airbus saying the vote is a lose-lose and reviewing it's investment strategy, the President of the European Parliament saying:

"Leave is leave", he said. "The UK just decided to leave the European Union and that means also the single market of the European Union. I wonder whether this is a rational decision. It is an emotional one."

Mr Schulz said he respected the decision of the British people, but felt it was the wrong one.

"The UK had lost independence nowhere. The UK is not a part of Schengen, it's not a part of the euro. The UK had a lot of opt-outs… it was the UK insisting always not to be a full-fledged member of the EU.

"The only areas they were a fully-fledged member is the single market and now they cut the links to the single market and look what happens today on the internal markets."

He said Leave campaigners had duped the British public by making false promises.

"Yes, that message that Britain alone would be stronger than together with the other countries of the European Union, this is a fairytale."

I'm more sad for my kids, they have a different view of the world than their grandparents generation and are both gutted today. I would have liked them to have the opportunity to work and move freely across 27 countries. On my part I've come into work today and my European colleagues are also all gutted at the result and what it stands for. Within 5 minutes I had French, Dutch, Romanian and Russians here talking about it in a sad way. Like others have said there is a big generational divide in the voting and a big educational divide also.

I wish someone in the Leave campaign could have convinced me with some facts what 'national sovereignty' we had really given up and why it was hurting us vs the huge economic risk that is on the table

Project Fear won ... not the one organised by that moron Cameron the one organised by Farage and his ilk.

Those of is who could actually string two words together know that The EU never was a threat to this country.

Nazi Nigel won by playing the race card ..The fact is there's no plan and we haven't got a clue where we are going ..

I hope someone has the balls to call the whole charade null and void (let's face it under the law for a strike mandate it would be ) ..

The Citizens have been duped let's hope they realise it before it gets any further.

I caught a debate with number of University students from Durham. Almost all just very sad and depressed as to how this has happened, and the nature of the people that voted for it.

The people that voted are older, or from depressed areas, usually tattooed beer bellyed bald middle aged blokes and their birds.

The young have been completely disenfranchised by this, and they are the ones that are the future and are inclusive.

I still dont think it will happen though.

Just watch the massive fudge that takes place. Scotland looks a good option to move to.

Oh hang, I wont be able to.

I think if the referendum was held again today the result would be very different, bit late now.

I find the North Easts results particularly dumb and contradictory. People have said its a vote against the establishment, how exactly? The North East was dump in the 80's when we had a Tory government this area was a forgotten wilderness. Large parts have been regenerated using lots of EU cash we have benefitted more than just about anywhere else, just look at Newcastle and how that has transformed in that time. Now we have helped remove that revenue stream and return all the power to a Tory government and Westminister and no doubt we'll be cast adrift again, with the added resentment of our moronic voting yesterday. All we are getting is a new Tory Prime Minister and huge dent in our economy, some vote against the establishment that will show them. Because immigration is massive problem here isn't it, to be fair we did once have Neighbours from the collieries.

Completely agree with PJ.

We are going to get an even more London centric government, with a free mandate to do whatever they want.

The electoral system and boundries will ensure they will protect their herat lands and probably rule for years.

This town will be that ghost town its turning into even quicker.

But hey, I bet there are loads of people that will love it, without all of them nmasty foreigners. The working mens clubs will be bouncing tonight.

I imagine the hospital was a major factor with a lot of Hartlepudlians what with the leave campaign banging on about all the money that would be made available to the NHS.

Wonder who they'll focus their anger on now given Farage has already pretty much said that the NHS isn't going to get this funding.

Farage was pathetic during that interview.

Suzanna Reid had his life. He squirmed like the lying little lizard he is.

The first promise broken within 20 minutes of the confirmation of the vote.

I wonder whats next.

My favourite one was the one that told us Turkey had a population of 70,000,000 as if we stayed in the EU they were all going to come and live with you in your street, if not in your house.

It didn't mention that less than 10% of people in Turkey are passport holders and them gaining entry to EU wouldn't have meant they all had the automatic right to work in the UK it just had Turkey and Turks in big letters all over.

Im just loving the useless not nice people now demanding that we take it slowly, make sure the EU give us a good deal. Fucking morons, they will want shot of us asap and play as hard as fuck ball to lay a marker down for anyone else looking to leave. 70% Leave in my home town. Fuck. Fuck

Jesus what a shitfest, Farage and that lot of inbred tossers just want more of their noses in the trough. Victory for the decent people Faridge was gloating today. He wouldnt know one if he stepped on one. At least Johnson had the decency to look shit scared when he spoke, maybe he realises what a wagon load of crap he has set careering down the hill.

Get Britain Back? From fucking what? Do people not understand how good have/had it compared to 40 - 50 years ago?

Ah fuck it

I wager a lot of people are thinking along the lines of "Oh fuck, what did I do at that party last night?".

Seriously though, there has to be a reaction, if not today then one that builds up over the next week or so. There is absolutely no fucking way you can justify doing a constitutional U-turn on a 52% vote. The door is wide open for the next conservative wanabee leader to lead the revolt. Where are you Ruth?

If any of the outraged are interested, here's a link to an official petition that has already received enough signatures to force a parliamentary debate. It might be a bit slow like as the govt's site is overloaded.

If less than 75% voted, then the remaining 25% that couldn't be arsed shouldn't get a second chance just because it didn't go as they wanted.

Like it or not we just have to get on with it.

Well I'm also of the opinion that 52% shouldn't constitute a big enough mandate for such a huge constitutional change and the fact it is left open to be is gross negligence on the part of the government.

Especially given a huge amount of halfwits have come out today saying things like 'I would have voted remain if I knew this was going to happen' or 'I only voted leave as a protest vote I didn't think it would happen' etc etc

Sorry I don't mean 52% voting I mean a Leave vote of 52% shouldn't be considered a big enough margin of victory for such a big decision. Canada works a system of multiple referendum before the decision is finally made once consistent voting and majority is shown each time

Of course they are thick, take a look around you. Most of them spend all day in their pyjamas watching Jezza and cant even put a clean shirt on to go down and sign on. They piss most of their benefits up the wall on beer and fags then have to take out a pay-day loan from Wonga to put food on the table. These are the people trusted to make a decision on the economic future of this country ?

Did you not see the interviews on the BBC earlier of the fine citizens from the Town at the bottom of The Ramp discussing it in detail ? Some of them probably cant even tie their own shoelaces.

There are a lot of thick people who voted leave, but, there was also a lot of intelligent people, from what I seen also voted to leave.

I'm sure a lot of thick people voted to remain as intelligent people did.

Me? I didn't. Or at least I didn't do it knowingly. Can you send me a link to what you're on about.

70/30 split and people voting because "they fancied a change" says it all.. Thick people shouldn't be allowed to vote..Just imagine if that logic was applied to the capital punishment debate.. Lets face it Cameron took a gamble to get re elected and it's blew up in his face. ..

If thick people weren't allowed to vote then you'd probably end up with the same result.

Correct Chip. Quite frankly it's a farce, I have read a piece about our constitution in that the referendum also requires MP's to vote to trigger Article 50 that confirms our wish to exit.

I hope to god that's the case and our MP's do what they are supposed to do and make the right decision rather and decide to stay in that it's not in our best interests to leave

It will be rather amusing if they decide to ignore this result. Lets face it if a referendum on capital punishment was held the vote for would probably be higher..that's why they won't have one. .its in our best interest to stay as we are ...in the EU .. Cameron must come forward and admit his tremendous fuck up

Any chance we can have a separate private thread where all the smug twats can entertain themselves blowing smoke up each other's arses in a self congratulatory manner and looking down on all the stupid proles ? Just a thought.

It's called democracy. It's pissed me off over the years but there is no better system to date. Polarising topics like this always lead to either side questioning the sanity of the opposition and claiming the power of divine providence over the outcome. Are we suggesting a benevolent dictatorship of the enlightened only being allowed to vote on such topics ?
All wind and piss of course. Like the ebb and flow of the tide, life just goes on and the world keeps turning.
